Too many times I’d be under a kitchen sink or up in a roof loft, holding the torch while Dad got on with the job.
I was only a young lad, working for the promise of an extra chop at dinner. After a while I’d get bored, start looking around… and, before I knew it, the torch had followed my eyes.
Dad would quietly say…
“Ah… Keith.”
It always started off calm.
But if he was upside down under a sink or halfway through a tricky repair, it quickly became…
“KEITH!” 😂
The more awkward the job, the more urgent my name became!
Looking back, those days taught me a lot more than how to hold a torch. They taught me the value of hard work, doing the job properly, and learning from someone who took real pride in his trade.
Thanks, Dad. ❤️
Now it’s your turn…
