How Much Do Kitchen Renovations Cost?
On average, the cost of a new kitchen in Australia will cost around $17,000 but vary greatly depending on the size, complexity, shape, and quality of the project. This guide contains a new kitchen cost breakdown for all the elements you will require.
Renovation Type Average Reported Cost
Typical renovation $10,000 – $100,000
Budget renovation $10,000 – $25,000
Mid-range renovation $25,000 – $45,000
Luxury renovation $45,000 – $100,000
The wide price range accounts for the full range of options available when it comes to renovating your kitchen, including buying a set from brands like Masters Kitchens. This price takes into account additional professionals required such as an electrician or plumber.
The most significant factor in any kitchen renovation is how many of the fittings will be staying in the same place, and how many will be moving. The least amount of movement here will keep the overall cost of the job down. If you would like the layout of the kitchen completely overhauled, then you will need to adjust your budget accordingly.
Similarly, to home renovations, kitchen renovations are dependent on the size, style and layout you wish to transform the space to. Businesses have quoted Oneflare customers the following for a range of jobs from a new splashback to overhauled kitchen renovation:
State/Territory Average Reported Cost
New South Wales $35,000
Victoria $20,000
Queensland $15,000
Budget kitchen renovations
A budget or cheap renovation cost can be around $10000 to $25000 if there is not too much that you need to be done or you choose your materials wisely. If your budget is less than this you might not be able to achieve a full kitchen renovation but will still be able to make some changes.
Kitchen renovations under $10,000
For kitchen renovations under $10,000, you can still update the space with some major upgrades. You can update the splashback, cabinets, flooring, and new benchtops on this budget. Of course, you might be limited in your choice of materials. For instance, you might choose less expensive tiles for the splashback instead of more expensive glass ones.
Kitchen renovations under $3,000
Kitchen renovations under $3000 require a bit more planning. You might not be able to do a full kitchen renovation for this price, but you can still make some upgrades and improvements. For instance, you might consider resurfacing your cabinets instead of replacing them. You also might resurface your benchtop or choose a less expensive material like laminate.
