Old habits die hard!

Surveyors in the 1960s still used marks in trees to show future surveyors where survey marks were. Here’s a tree that was marked in 1963 to show the location of a nearby permanent mark. A nice find!

Getting ready for a day on a rural site. Here, Mitch is setting up the GNSS base station. We use a Leica GS15 base with a UHF radio link. This gives us a short baseline for GNSS measurements, which increases accuracy and precision. This also gives us the ability to post-process our GNSS data if necessary.
