Designing & building unique, award-winning, quality homes since 1985. Northern NSW to South East QLD. Imagine your dream home. Imagine. The choice is yours

Is it...
A high-tech beach house of glass and steel. A forest retreat with timber floors and deep, cool verandahs. A rustic villa of rendered brick, classy yet casual. A cottage, traditional, with steep pitched roof and high ceilings. Or maybe something altogether different, an exceptional mix of materials creating a Grand Design – high set, with sweeping open spaces capturing breezes and panoramic views, with vaulted ceilings and highlight windows.

Some details are best experienced in person. ✨

The cool touch of a solid stone benchtop. The texture of flexible wall panelling. Staircase battens that make a striking yet elegant statement. Natural light drawn deep into the home through windows placed to capture the view.

Each choice brings something to the space. Together, they create a home that feels as considered as it looks.

This is where 40 years of award-winning experience, skilled local trades and attention to detail come to life. Not in the talk. In the touch. 🤍

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲. 🌴

More of our clients are designing the holiday in, so every weekend feels like checking in somewhere special. Here's what that looks like on a plan.

🎬 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺. Acoustic treatment in the walls, blockout at the windows, seating built for a full family movie night, and a snack station within arm's reach.

🛁 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺. A freestanding bath, rain shower with handheld, heated floors and towel rails, natural stone and timber, and soft layered lighting that turns the evening routine into a ritual.

🏊 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗮. Designed with the home rather than after it. Sightlines from the living areas, northern sun on the water, and solar heating that keeps you swimming all year round.

🍕 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻. A covered alfresco with bench space, a fridge, and a pizza oven that becomes the natural gathering point of every get-together.

Finishing touches worth dreaming about: a sauna, an outdoor shower, a firepit lounge for winter evenings.

The secret to all of it is timing. Retreat features sing when they're designed in from the first sketch, when services, structure and orientation can be shaped around them.

So, which comes first at your place, the media room or the pizza oven? Cast your vote in the comments 👇

It started with a local plumber’s recommendation. Soon, Simon and his family will be opening the door to their new home in Ballina. 🏡

They already had the block and ideas about what they wanted. After seeing our homes in Angels Beach, they entrusted the Anstey team to bring their own vision to life.

For this busy family, beautiful craftsmanship mattered, but so did clear communication, support throughout the build and flexibility when ideas changed along the way.

Hearing that we’ve delivered on each of those things makes the approaching handover all the more special.

Thank you, Simon, for your kind words and for trusting us with your family’s home. We can’t wait to see you settle in and make it yours. 🔑

Forty years into building homes, moments like these still mean everything.

𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁. Your front door sets the tone for the whole house. 🚪

Choosing one comes down to how your entry lives, and a few details refine the overall experience.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿. Turning on a concealed floor pivot, this is a door designed for generous, modern entries. Its oversized proportions, 1200mm and beyond, create a striking sense of arrival. A statement you feel every time it swings.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿. Solid-core, beautifully reliable, and right at home on traditional and coastal facades alike. Paired with a sidelight or highlight glazing, it fills the entry with natural light.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿. A grand welcome for wider frontages and formal entries, and wonderfully practical on the day the furniture arrives.

Then the materials.

Solid timber introduces warmth and character, thoughtfully finished to withstand coastal conditions and retain its beauty over time.

Aluminium-clad and composite options offer a more refined resilience, maintaining their form through humid summers with little maintenance required.

For the hardware; long entrance pulls suit pivot doors, while lever sets suit hinged.

Near the coast, marine-grade 316 stainless and PVD finishes keep their lustre for years. A deep porch or generous eave offers year round shade and shelter, while a 900mm-plus opening makes every arrival feel easy.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗶𝗻. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱. ☯️

Feng shui has guided homes for centuries, and its heart is beautifully simple. Balance, flow, and how a space makes you feel. It pairs naturally with the way we design to a site.

🚪 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆. Feng shui calls it the mouth of chi, the point where energy arrives. In practice, a light, welcoming threshold with a view to somewhere lovely beyond, drawing you gently into the home.

🌊 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄. Clear sightlines and easy circulation between zones, so moving through the house feels effortless. Hallways that arrive somewhere. Rooms that open to each other in a natural sequence.

🛏️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Beds and desks placed where you can see the door and feel settled. A small move on the plan, and a surprisingly big one for how a room feels.

🌿 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. Timber, stone, water, metal and light, balanced as a materials palette. Layered thoughtfully, they give a home warmth and calm in equal measure.

🌗 𝗬𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. Lively shared spaces balanced with restful retreats, so the home holds both the birthday party and the peaceful Sunday afternoon.

Much of this mirrors what good site-responsive design already does. Orientation, natural light, storage designed in, and a real connection to the outdoors - which is precisely what we created for our clients at Rio Vista Blvd, Broadbeach Waters.

Pancakes going, coffee brewing, kids lending a hand, and room for everyone. That's a kitchen designed for the whole family. ☕

Sunday morning is the truest test of a kitchen. The slow, happy hum of everyone in there at once.

The kitchens that pass it share a few clever design moves.

💡 An island at the heart, with seating on two sides so the conversation flows across it. Walkways of 1.2 metres or more between bench runs, so three cooks and a dog can all find their lane.

💡 Zones that share the load. A prep bench the kids can claim for pancake duty. A coffee station tucked away from the cooktop. A butler's pantry keeping the benches clear while the magic happens.

💡 And light. A kitchen opening to the dining and alfresco, with north-east glazing that fills the space with morning sun, makes Sunday feel like Sunday.

Finish it with surfaces that forgive flour and syrup, and drawers set low enough for small helpers, and the whole ritual simply works.

Spring cleaning is easier in a house designed to stay tidy. The best storage is the kind you build in. 🧺

With the spring reset in full swing, here are five built-in storage moves that keep a home feeling fresh all year, and add real value along the way.

✅ 𝗔 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗲. A mudroom or entry nook off the garage with a bench, hooks and a home for every school bag. The hardest-working two square metres in a family home.

✅ 𝗔 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸-𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀. Deep shelves, hanging space and room for the vacuum. Everything visible, everything reachable.

✅ 𝗞𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿. Appliance garages for the daily kit, deep drawers over cupboards, and a pantry planned shelf by shelf. Clear benches, every single day.

✅ 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝘁-𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀. Double hanging, drawers and shoe shelving. A robe designed around what you own keeps the whole bedroom serene.

✅ 𝗔 𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺. Ceiling racks and wall rails with a place for the boards, bikes and camping gear that make coastal life so good.

Storage designed in at planning stage works better, looks better and costs less than furniture found later. And generous, well-planned storage is one of the features buyers consistently fall for.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀. 🏡

Our team recently reflected on trends that reflect how our clients are really living in 2026. Four shifts stood out and we thought we'd share them with you to see if you agree!

1️⃣ 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀. The home office has become a core design feature rather than a spare-room afterthought, and rooms are drawn to shift roles as life moves through its stages.

2️⃣ 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀-𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝘀. Calm, tactile spaces layered with natural materials. Homes designed to feel as restorative as they look.

3️⃣ 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Multigenerational living is flourishing, with separate zones, granny flats, and flexible bedrooms balancing togetherness and privacy.

4️⃣ 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁. Natural light, open sightlines and multifunctional spaces make a home feel generous at any size.

Style-wise, the looks resonating right now span calm Japandi simplicity, expressive mid-century character, and the modern beach house feel that suits our coastline so naturally.

Every one of these ideas comes to life best in a home designed around you from the first sketch. That's exactly what custom building is for.

So what do you think? Do you agree Aussie homes are increasingly reflecting these four lifestyle-led trends? What other trends are you noticing?
