🌱 Papyrus has an ancient and invaluable history, but in Australia's tropical regions it's weedy, and unwelcome outside a cultivated and controlled garden.
In this Ballarat garden, the Papyrus plants had become very large in the space; close to their habitual size of nearly two metres tall.
Historically, the stems were split and the pith used to make paper, or eaten, and the rhizomes are also edible.
In this contemporary garden space, they're ornamental. Dwarf versions are available commercially.
