It’s always exciting to revisit a property we’ve previously landscaped and see how the garden has matured.

We’re so pleased with how this one is coming along. As the garden has grown and the clients have settled into the space, we’re making a few tweaks to better suit how they use their outdoor areas. It’s all part of creating a garden that not only looks great, but works beautifully for the people who live there.

Wondering why your pots have stalled in growth?

Or why your raised garden beds aren’t thriving like they did when they were first installed?

Pots and contained planters aren’t a set-and-forget garden solution.

Over time, the soil or potting mix loses nutrients, breaks down, compacts and can even become hydrophobic, meaning it starts to repel water instead of soaking it up properly.

You might notice:

• slower growth
• plants drying out quickly
• water running straight through the pot
• tired, compacted soil
• plants looking unhealthy despite regular watering and fertilising

Sometimes the solution isn’t more water or more fertiliser.

It’s refreshing the growing media, improving the soil structure, checking drainage and giving the plants the root space and nutrition they need to thrive again.

Potted displays and raised garden beds can look amazing for years, but they do need ongoing maintenance to stay that way.

Sometimes a beautiful garden doesn’t need to be redesigned. It just needs a few thoughtful adjustments to help it Thrive.

We recently had the pleasure of carrying out some rectification work in this gorgeous garden, originally designed and installed by another landscaping team around 12 months ago.

Much of the garden was thriving beautifully, but after a year in the ground it had become clear that a few areas weren’t responding quite as well to the site conditions.

One section in particular was remaining extremely waterlogged, so we installed a French drain along the base of the retaining wall to help capture and redirect excess water away from the garden.

We also transplanted several plants that were struggling in their original positions, relocating them to areas better suited to their growing requirements and giving them a much better chance of establishing successfully.

To make better use of one of the naturally moist areas, we installed two raised trough planters for herbs and other plants that prefer their roots a little higher and their soil considerably better drained.

A final top-up of mulch brought everything back together and had the garden looking fantastic again.

We’re not sure who completed the original design and installation, but it was an absolute pleasure working within such a beautifully created garden.

Landscapes are living systems, and sometimes it isn’t until they’ve experienced a full cycle of seasons that you really begin to see where drainage, microclimates and individual plant placement need a little fine-tuning.

We can’t wait to see how these small tweaks help this garden continue to Thrive.

One of the best ways to add those finishing touches to a new property is with well-considered potted displays.

We completed the landscaping at Marlo by earlier this year. After a few months of settling into the home, learning how the light moves through the space and seeing how the family naturally uses their outdoor areas, they invited us back to add a selection of potted displays.

The result brings another layer of greenery and life into the outdoor living spaces, while complementing the landscaping already in place.

We think this one has come together perfectly.

We always love returning to a property to see how everything has grown in! Yesterday our team completed some final touches at MARLO by Tidal Constructions. We were able to install the Star Jasmine trellis now that the boundary wall is complete. We also top dressed the lawns, refreshed the mulch, infilled some planting, and gave the gardens a health check. We left with the biggest smiles knowing we completed another amazing job. These kinds of projects are pinch me moments. We are so proud of how far we have come! 🌿
