NT EMERGENCY SERVICE MESSAGE: Flood Emergency Warning

RIVER: Todd River
LOCATION AFFECTED: Alice Springs
ALERT LEVEL: Emergency warning - An Emergency Warning is the highest level of warning. You may be in danger and need to take action immediately. Any delay now puts your life at risk.

RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA:
β’ You may become isolated
β’ Property damage and destruction
β’ Livestock, and other animals and pets may become isolated
β’ Fast flowing flood water can contain objects that may injure or trap you
β’ Flood water may contain toxic waste and chemicals
ACTION STATEMENTS:
β’ It is too dangerous to travel, reconsider your plans
β’ Do not enter or go near flooded areas
β’ Shelter indoors now β Stay indoors until all CLEAR is given by authorities
β’ Stay informed by following SecureNT on Facebook or listen to ABC Local Radio

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:
Due to very dangerous thunderstorms with locally intense rainfall flooding is currently occuring. The gauge at Anzac oval is currently 3.3m and increasing, up river Wigley Gorge is 4.5m and appears to be levelling off, this water will move down stream through Alice Springs.
Many roads will be cut off potially including Stotts Terrace bridge and all low level causeways causing isolation for the resoidents.
