Day two of the clean up and the chainsaws are out in force.

Then there’s this one. A chunk of tree speared straight into the ground like it was planted there on purpose. That’s the kind of force those winds were carrying through town yesterday, and it’s wild to see up close.

A huge shout out to everyone out there sweating it through the clean up today. Alice is slowly getting back on her feet, one branch at a time.

Still take care around damaged trees and debris, and keep well clear of any power lines that have come down.

So many people have reported this is the most amount of damage the town has seen from a storm in history.

Swipe through to see what the centre of town looks like after this afternoon’s storm. Trees snapped, branches scattered across the streets and debris just about everywhere you look.

It’s a sobering sight, and a real reminder of how quickly the weather can turn out here.

If you’re heading into town over the next few days, please take it slow. Give crews room to work, keep an eye out for hazards on the roads and footpaths, and stay well away from any downed power lines.

To everyone already out there helping to clean up, thank you. Alice always pulls together when it counts.

If the storm has left you with electrical, aircon or refrigeration damage, our team is here to help get things back up and running.

Hope everyone’s safe and doing okay after this afternoon’s storm in Alice Springs.

This footage was taken from a home in Alice, and it shows just how ferocious those winds were. Trees are down everywhere and there’s going to be a big clean up ahead for all of us.

Please take care out there over the next few days:
• Stay well clear of fallen power lines and always treat them as live
• Watch for branches and debris on roads and footpaths
• Don’t touch anything electrical that’s been damaged or soaked
• Check in on your neighbours, especially the elderly and those living alone.

Look after each other, Alice. We’ll get through the mess together.
