Another major milestone reached on this owner-builder project that we’ve been involved with throughout the year.
Our scope of works has included constructing 4.5m high internal walls, a mezzanine floor, custom-made cavity sliding doors, and most recently completing the steel-framed carport, ready for fascia, guttering and roofing.
The home is now at internal fix stage, with plaster installed and ready for internal rendering to the external walls.
What makes this project particularly interesting is the use of Durisol for all external walls. Durisol is a high thermal mass building system designed to store and regulate heat energy. During cooler periods, heat stored within the walls is gradually released back into the home, reducing heating requirements. In warmer conditions, the walls absorb excess heat, helping to minimise cooling demands.
The result is a home designed for exceptional comfort and energy efficiency, while still allowing the building to breathe naturally. Rather than relying heavily on mechanical systems to maintain comfort, the design works with the environment to create a stable and comfortable indoor climate year-round.
It’s been great working alongside the owner-builder to help bring this unique project to life, and we’re looking forward to seeing the finished result.
