Designing for youth means designing with them 🚴‍♀️ 🏀

For the redevelopment of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Precinct, H+H Architects led the architectural, heritage, and landscape design as a structured engagement process with local students, riders, and community agencies to understand exactly how Kingsbury Park needed to function. The final outcome is a community-led redesign that directly reflects how local young people want to use their city.

What a week! Our senior architect Alice has recently received a lovely client testimonial and been recognised for her design contribution after a home she designed won an award 🏆🏠

One of her clients says this: "Thank you so much for all of the hard work that has gone into designing and building our home. We absolutely love it! We are so thrilled with the finished product and can't wait to live in it. We are so glad we contacted H+H Architects and will recommend you to everyone we know."

On top of this, a Leschenault home (pictured below), designed by Alice and built by Easybuild WA, took out the award for Best Custom Design Home ($900,000 - $1.6 million) at the Housing Industry Association - HIA Regional Western Australian Housing Awards. Easybuild WA said that the design of the Stanton home was exceptional and gave them a great foundation to deliver something really special, and we agree.

Well done Alice, we couldn't be prouder!

H+H Director Julie de Jong joined the live panel discussion, How Do We Plan for Albany's Growth?

As the architect behind many of the regions sustainability, transitional housing, affordable and social housing, homelessness response and community-focused projects, Julie shared her perspective on how thoughtful development can create a more liveable city while responding to environmental priorities and the needs of our community.

Construction is underway!

We're excited to see the Carnarvon Tramway Trail coming to life with new interpretive signage and furniture designed by H+H Architects, featuring reclaimed timber from the One Mile Jetty, now being installed by local carpenter Stuart Parker along the walkway that follows the State Heritage-listed Carnarvon Tramway Line, made possible with grant funding from Lotterywest.

H+H Architects, in collaboration with the Lock Hospital Working Group, developed new interpretation signage for the Lock Hospital Path of Pain. These powerful stories acknowledge the many Aboriginal men and women who were forcibly removed to the Lock Hospitals on Bernier and Dorre Islands with many never returning home.

H+H Architects also worked with Wooramulla Journeys to design interpretive signage that tells the Dreamtime story of the Emu in the Sky, along with information about local bush foods and medicines.

Along the trail, visitors will also discover the Stories Along the Tramway community research project panel which was designed by H+H. Thanks to the efforts of the wonderful staff at the Shire of Carnarvon Library and contributions from the local community, local memories of growing up, living and working along the Tramway have been captured, highlighting the important social role the One Mile Jetty and Tramway played in the history of Carnarvon.

This evening gives years 7 - 12 students a special night in a culturally safe environment to come together and celebrate culture, community and the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
