Last night couldn't have gone too much better considering the moon was 100% full!

The night started on a high after a quick walk up a gully produced this red hind. I spotted it from 500m away, quickly got within 200m and got a shot off just as the sun was fading away!

From there the real work started with 48 roos on the ute and heading off to the processor 💪.

I've been very slack at posting up lately but the work never stops! For me it's the hardest time if year with wet paddoc...

I've been very slack at posting up lately but the work never stops!
For me it's the hardest time if year with wet paddocks and crops getting taller. It's been a very mild winter but I'm still looking forward to some sunshine and warm days 🦘💪.

Pigs... the one thing I just can't seem to shoot!
After a close encounter on Friday night I decided to head back out for a walk around on Sunday afternoon. There's been plenty of pig activity on the property with massive areas rooted up. It felt like I was going to run into one at any point, but it wasn't to be.
Hopefully I make it back again for another look around while they're active in the area 🤞🏼.

Pretty much sums up the night...

Up until this point I've managed to avoid winter this year, no wet paddocks and no shooting in the rain. Well that changed last night when I got the full welcome to winter package. Persistent drizzle all night, one too many muddy paddocks and roos that were not out in their usual numbers. I called it a night with 30 on the ute, a little way off full but some night's you take what you can.

To make the night even more frustrating I missed out on an opportunity to shoot my first pig. I shot a roo, then what I initially thought was another roo next to it turned into a pig and dissapeared into the bush. Would have been an easy shot if I looked a bit closer 🤦🏻.

Bright moon and blowing a gale, but we got the ute full! I put in some big km on Friday night to help out a farmer who's crops are getting hammered by roos. Based off what I saw there's another 500+ left to cull, but the farmer was happy to get rid of a few and I was happy to get the ute full in some difficult conditions.

Ended the night with 40 for 1138kg heading off to the processor 💪

Considering winter is well underway the weather on Friday night was near on perfect for shooting! The property owner had asked me to come out as he's revegetating some creek lines later in the month and the kangaroos cause massive amounts of damage to the young seedlings.

There were roos everywhere and it didn't take long to fill up, managing one of my better loads for a while. 50 for 1274kg off to the processor. If you're having trouble with any sort of pests on you property don't hesitate to get in touch and we can work out a plan. 🦘

Another full ute load of roos from Saturday night. I was feeling exhausted before the night began so had hoped for a relatively quick night. I was leaving the farm as midnight rolled around and heading home with 40 for 1007kg on the ute!
On a side note, after nearly 10 years and many, many thousands of rounds my .223 has been retired and heading off for a new barrel. I swapped the thermal over to my new (second hand) .243 and was very happy with how it shoots 👌.

Although it's been a while since I last posted the shooting work never stops! Roos, foxes, cats, rabbits, rats and emus have all been hitting the deck over the last month. I've also had a few new toys to play with 👌. Fingers crossed we get a little bit more of this nice weather before winter sets in and makes things a bit tougher.
