Our first ever Sakar Brownlow Awards are in the books 🏆

The whole crew raided the op shop racks, headed down to Glenelg Golf Club and spent the night finding out who their teammates had been voting for since March. Chris Carson took out Best Dressed, and several other outfits drifted well into genuine cause for concern.

Big congratulations to Michael Scott, our 2026 Sakar Brownlow Medallist, to Billy Papendell and Luke Clutton on the podium, and to apprentice Tahlia Cain on Rising Star.

Thanks to Glenelg Golf Club for looking after us, to Alex and Darius for running the show, and to Blake for keeping the votes safe in his glove-box.

Here's to next year.

📍 150 Grenfell Street, Adelaide

Before RAA's people walked into 150 Grenfell Street, our team was laying the groundwork behind the walls.

As part of Built Environs' redevelopment of this Adelaide landmark into the city's first Carbon Neutral certified office, we delivered the structural carpentry that timber doors and hardware, compliant fire doors throughout, wet area accessories, structural wall framing, and wall linings and substrate.

📍 St Aloysius, Adelaide

All hands on deck in the C*D at St Aloysius Catholic Girls College, installing tongue and groove hardwood flooring on the central staircase for their new vertical primary school. The Blackbutt timber (Australian hardwood) with its straight grain and high durability will be robust and long-lasting in this heavy-use space, retaining its beautiful finish for years to come.

The scope also included second fix fire door installation, wet area fixtures, and feature sliding doors.

Under the guidance of site supervisor Michael, this project showcased our team's capability when it comes to creating feature timber-work, which demands the highest quality finish on display.

When RAA made the move from Mile End to its new home at 150 Grenfell Street, it wasn't just relocating an office, it was bringing the state's largest member organisation into the heart of the city.

Architects Mark Berlangieri and Emma Dodson of Walter Brooke, put natural timber at the centre of their vision for the build. American oak and walnut, floor-to-ceiling glass, rooms that capture and radiate light.

Our job was to make that vision real. Sakar Constructions was engaged by our long-time build partner's Schiavello to deliver the solid timber package for the fit-out. Every partition, window and feature door was fabricated in our Somerton Park workshop and installed by our team.

Natural timber with a finish like this doesn't get painted over. What's on show now, to every South Australian who walks in, is the work itself. For decades to come.

There's a lot more to this story, and we'll be sharing more over the coming months.

Happy birthday to our Managing Director, Darius 🎉

With three kids under 5 and a growing team, Darius has his hands full. But that never stops him from having a laugh, a swing of golf, or coffee with our team, clients, or anyone who wants to really, that’s just the kind of guy he is.

Anyone who knows Darius knows that the Sakar you see today all started with a guy and his tools, just doing solid work. The company is a bit bigger now, but the man at the centre of it all is the same. (Just with a few more grey hairs, but that’s probably more from having to deal with us every day, rather than age!)

Happy Birthday from all of us, today we cheers to you, and you’d better believe it’ll be sparkling water in your honour ✨

Large-scale commercial fit-out - every panel aligned, every junction clean, every finish meticulously applied. The kind of result that takes planning, a skilled crew, and zero shortcuts.

Carpentry is the backbone of a build. When it's done right, nobody notices - and that's exactly the point.

Our team delivers detail-critical carpentry on long-running sites where finish, coordination and consistency matter.

Recent and current projects include major education campuses, medical facilities and civic builds such as Monarto Safari Park Visitor Centre, Flinders Medical Centre, fast paced fit outs and large secondary and tertiary education projects across Adelaide.
