A project with real heart - Kalyra Belair.

Glow Commercial is proud to have delivered the commercial electrical and mechanical works on the beautiful Kalyra Belair aged care refurbishment and retirement village upgrade in Belair. 🌿

This significant project for long-term Kennett client Kalyra included a new building, extensions and various refurbishment works to the existing aged care facility and retirement village in Belair.

The scope included refurbishments of all existing bedrooms, ensuites, and common lounge, dining and kitchen areas in the aged care facility, plus extensions for additional administration areas and resident bedrooms. In the retirement village, works included upgrades to independent living units along with a dedicated billiards room, café, bar, lounge rooms, library and gymnasium, connected by a new linked walkway and complemented by external courtyards and landscaping.

A huge thank you to Kennett Builders for once again choosing Glow Commercial to be part of such an important project. It's always a pleasure working alongside such a respected and professional team. 🤝

☀️🔥 Beat the Heat Before It Hits! 🔥☀️

When extreme heat is on the way, keeping your home cool without overworking your air conditioner (and your power bill!) can be a challenge.

One of the smartest strategies? Pre-cooling your home, gradually lowering the temperature before the hottest part of the day arrives. It’s a simple change that can make a big difference to your comfort and energy use.

In our latest blog, we break down:
❄️ What pre-cooling is
❄️ How it works
❄️ Tips for different types of air conditioning systems

🕐 Clocks go forward this Sunday - don't forget to change your smoke alarm battery too!

This Sunday at 2:00 AM, South Australia moves into daylight saving time, clocks spring forward one hour to 3:00 AM. Yes, it means one less hour of sleep, but hello extra evening daylight! ☀️

While you're thinking about it, use this as your reminder to do one more important thing 'check and change the battery in your smoke alarm'. 🚨

It takes two minutes and could save your life. A working smoke alarm is one of the simplest and most important safety measures in your home - don't let a flat battery be the reason it lets you down when it matters most.

Here's your quick checklist this Sunday:

⏰ Spring your clocks forward one hour
🔋 Replace your smoke alarm battery
👂 Test your alarm to make sure it's working
📋 Check your alarm isn't past its expiry date - most need replacing every 10 years

Not sure if your smoke alarm is up to scratch? Team Glow can help! Whether it's a battery replacement, a full service, a new installation or a compliance check, our licensed electricians are right here in South Australia and ready to keep your home safe. ✅

📞 Call Glow today and let us take care of it for you.

🏍️ He did it! Nigel has completed the Husqvarna Trek through the Flinders Ranges... and what an adventure it was!

We are so proud of our director Nigel for taking on the Husqvarna Trek right here in South Australia, riding through some of the most spectacular country our great state has to offer. 🤙❤️

But it wasn't just about the ride. As part of the Trek, Nigel raised an incredible $3,275 for Variety - the Children’s Charity SA - contributing to an amazing overall total of $26,585 raised for children and families facing challenges across Australia. 🙏

That is something to be genuinely proud of, and it wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of everyone who donated and shared the fundraising page. From all of us at Team Glow, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Every single dollar makes a real difference. 💛

Variety SA does extraordinary work for kids and families who need it most, and we are proud to have played a small part in supporting such a worthy cause.

Well done Nigel — now get some rest! 😄🏍

Have you done your Spring Clean? Don't forget to check around your outdoor air con unit!

It sounds simple, but you'd be surprised how often this one gets overlooked. 👀

Your ducted air conditioning outdoor unit needs clear airflow all around it - front and back - to work correctly and efficiently. When airflow is restricted, your system has to work much harder to do its job, which means:

❌ Higher running costs
❌ Reduced cooling and heating performance
❌ Extra wear and tear on your system
❌ Potential breakdowns - usually on the hottest or coldest day of the year! 😅

Take a quick look around your outdoor unit and make sure it's free from:

📦 Boxes and stored items
🌿 Overgrown plants, leaves and garden debris
🧹 Dirt and dust build-up
🏚️ Anything else that's crept up around it over time

A few minutes of checking now could save you a costly service call later and keep your system running at its best heading into the summer season.

And if your system is due for a professional service, now is the perfect time to get it booked in before the summer rush hits. Team Glow's qualified technicians will make sure everything is running efficiently and ready to keep you cool when you need it most. ❄️

☀️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗔 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴... 𝗜𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁?

We all know what a South Australian summer looks like. The air con runs all day, the fridge works overtime, and before you know it the power bill arrives and takes the shine off the whole season. 😅

Here's the good news, that same blazing summer sun that drives your energy bills up is exactly what a solar system needs to work its hardest for you.

The smartest move you can make right now is getting solar installed before summer arrives. Here's why:

☀️ More sun = more energy generated - SA summers are among the best solar-producing months of the year
❄️ Run your air con on your own power - not the grid
🔋 Add a battery and store what you generate during the day to use through the evening
💰 Start saving on your bills from day one
⏰ Beat the summer rush - installation lead times increase significantly as the season approaches

And right now, the Federal Government's Cheaper Home Batteries Program means there are still great rebates available to help reduce your upfront costs.

Don't wait until you're already sweating through your next power bill to make the call. Get sorted now and head into summer with a system already working hard for you. 🙌

Glow Commercial is proud to be delivering the mechanical works on Wirra Mikangka, an extraordinary development that will see 151 new apartments rise on the edge of the Adelaide Parklands, providing much-needed affordable and accessible housing for South Australians.

Wirra Mikangka - meaning "in front of the forest" in the Kaurna language - is a project with real purpose. 121 of the homes will be offered to people living on low and moderate incomes, with eight apartments purpose-built to meet the needs of wheelchair users. Seeing a development of this scale and significance take shape is something our whole team is genuinely proud to be a part of. 🙏

A heartfelt thank you to Hindmarsh Construction for selecting Glow Commercial to deliver the mechanical works on such an important project. It is a privilege to work alongside such a respected team. 🤝

We can't wait to see Wirra Mikangka completed and welcoming its community.

Construction is progressing quickly at Wirra Mikangka where 151 new apartments are being built on the edge of the Adelaide parklands.

The major development is a partnership between the Trust and Housing Choices South Australia, built on prime land at one of our former flat sites which was no longer fit for purpose. Wirra Mikangka means “in front of the forest” in the Kaurna language.

Apartments will be spread across two towers and will include a mix of different housing types to create a diverse and thriving community. 121 of the homes will be offered to people living on low and moderate incomes, including those who have applied to the single housing register. All apartments will be accessible but eight of them will be built to an even higher standard specifically to meet the needs of wheelchair users. The development will include green space and other communal areas too.

When we first shared this project back in April works had only just begun, so we’re excited to see this massive project taking shape and the positive impact it will have for so many South Australians. Wirra Mikangka will be managed by Housing Choices Australia once complete.
