From our team to you, Merry Christmas and we look forward to working with you further in 2023.

It's been a big year with Designwell Landscape Architects joining forces with Tract. A move that has been everything we hoped it would be.

Thanks to the Tract national team for being so welcoming and I look forward to spreading our wings even wider in 2023.

DesignWell Joins Tract Consultants.

DesignWell Landscape Architects are excited to announce that we have made the important business decision to join forces with national landscape architecture firm Tract Consultants as of July 2022.

We are excited to join Tract to ensure the continuation of our thought leadership and to bolster our capacity to deliver the important work that we do, designing therapeutic landscapes across Australia.

As you know, DesignWell are an internationally award-winning landscape architectural firm with a specialist focus on healing and therapeutic design for the health care, senior living and education sectors. Coming together with Tract will enable our team to integrate our important specialist knowledge across a greater range of projects including large hospitals, senior living developments and social housing where healing and therapeutic landscapes have been struggling to get the recognition they deserve.

DesignWell Director, Tara Graham-Cochrane joins Tract as Principal Landscape Architect teaming with Principals, Heath Edwards and Nathan Noack to complete the dynamic Tract Adelaide leadership team.

“This move is an exciting next step for DesignWell. Building on our strong health, senior living and education portfolios, we are excited to broaden the reach of our specialist skills into projects that have been unattainable previously as a smaller design firm. Joining forces with Tract opens many more doors and we cannot wait to further expand our passion for healing and therapeutic landscapes.”
Tara Graham-Cochrane, DesignWell Director

“Tract is thrilled to welcome DesignWell into the Tract fold, cementing our successful, collaborative working relationship. Given our experience working previously with Tara, we are confident that the DesignWell team are a great cultural fit for Tract – both in the sectors that we work in and how we work with our clients.
The move signals continued growth for Tract nationally, with our team now numbering over 200 professionals, as the national scope of our practice further embraces Healing and Therapeutic design within our burgeoning Health and Education portfolios”.
Deiter Lim, Tract Managing Director

Increasing inclusivity: Designing age-friendly communities.

A must read article written by our Director, Graham-Cochrane

Landscapes, both public and private, can support older people and those living with dementia to live active lives. Designwell director Tara Graham-Cochrane makes the case for an age-friendly approach to transforming our cities.

We are excited to share that Our project “Kurlana Tapa Cultural Connection Space” is the winner of the People’s Choice Award in the 2022 AILA SA Awards.

Thank you AILA SA and our supporters for recognising the importance of this project.

“Providing therapeutic cultural landscapes is not something that the youth justice system often provides. Through working closely with Aboriginal Elders and Youth Justice, the recently opened Kurlana Tapa Cultural Connection Space offers a new understanding of how the landscape can foster community and social interaction through the sharing of indigenous culture.
The core objective of this project was to create a cultural landscape that would instil a sense of pride in Aboriginal youth at the centre, while offering a safe, secure, respectful, and inclusive cultural natural environment for young people to foster connection, community, social interaction and encourage meaningful change.”
