We’re proud to share that five Urban Habitats homes have been shortlisted in this year’s Master Builders SA Awards.

Following last year’s honour of being named SA Residential Master Builder of the Year, it’s wonderful to see our work recognised again.

Each home is the result of a close collaboration between our clients, architects, designers, trades and wider team, with thoughtful design, quality materials and considered craftsmanship at the centre of everything we do.

We’re incredibly proud of the homes we’ve created and the people behind them, and we’re looking forward to celebrating alongside our team and industry peers.

A carefully crafted contemporary residence located along beautiful Malcolm Street in Millswood, Malcolm was designed as a spacious single-level home focused on connection, comfort and everyday liveability.

Generous internal spaces flow seamlessly into outdoor living areas, creating a home that feels both refined and relaxed. Through considered planning, practical construction methodology and a restrained material palette, Malcolm reflects Urban Habitats’ commitment to thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship.

This project balances architectural clarity with build efficiency, resulting in a timeless home designed to support modern family living for years to come.

We are proud to present Malcolm at this year's Master Builders SA awards.

Beauty found in simple detailing, balanced proportions and a material palette chosen to feel as though it has always belonged.

Malcolm is a considered expression of the Urban Habitats approach to architectural design. Tactile brickwork brings texture and permanence, softened by natural materials, warm tones and considered moments of connection to the landscape.

Nothing is overworked. Instead, the design allows light, materiality and space to speak for themselves, creating a home that is thoughtful in its detail and enduring in its design.

Kindred House is a thoughtful reawakening of a late-1960s residence, shaped by the belief that the most meaningful transformations honour what already exists. Rather than expanding the home or introducing unnecessary complexity, the design focused on recovering its original generosity, restoring clarity, connection and the qualities that first made it so special.

Organised around a central courtyard, the home now unfolds as a continuous journey of light, movement and carefully framed views. Warm, tactile materials and colours that reference the home's era create an atmosphere that feels joyful, expressive and deeply personal.

We’re incredibly proud to share that The Pearl has been featured by The Local Project.

Rather than expanding this heritage villa, our approach focused on revealing the potential that was already there, transforming the home into a light-filled sanctuary through thoughtful planning, refined materiality and considered craftsmanship.
"The Pearl is a story of thoughtful restraint. Rather than expanding the home, the design reveals the potential that already existed, transforming a heritage villa into a light-filled sanctuary through careful planning, refined materiality and considered craftsmanship."

Urban Habitats transforms a heritage Adelaide villa not by adding more but by carefully reconfiguring what already exists, revealing light, space and material with precision.

The Pearl began with a desire to feel differently within the home. What once felt enclosed and disconnected was carefully reworked into a series of calm, light-filled spaces shaped by elegant materiality and a stronger connection to landscape.

Working within the existing footprint, the project became an exercise in refinement rather than expansion, reclaiming a 1970s addition and reconsidering the relationship between the original villa, the garden and the spaces between.

Steel-framed glazing and carefully positioned skylights draw natural light deep into the home, while a restrained palette of stone, oak and soft mineral finishes brings warmth and softness to the interiors.

What emerges, is a home that feels deeply personal and thoughtfully resolved, gentle in atmosphere and generous in feeling.
