The right lighting changes everything.

When you're working around large machinery, conveyors and moving equipment, good lighting isn't just about being able to see where you're going.

It's about visibility, safety and making sure the people working on site can clearly see what's happening around them, especially when the sun goes down.

For this site, we installed 10 new LED floodlights along the gantry pillars, improving visibility around the plant equipment, conveyor system and pedestrian access areas.

And with a sunset switch controlling the lights, they automatically come on when they're needed.

Sometimes it's the simplest upgrades that make the biggest difference.

Can you guess where we’ve been working this week? 👀

Here’s a hint… your suitcase may have passed through some of our work before making it onto your flight.

The TA team has been behind the scenes at the airport, working overnight on upgrades to the baggage handling system.

The project involved modifications to the safety architecture, new AS-i cabling and the staged replacement of six Automatic Bag Drops, along with field equipment installation, testing and commissioning support.

And because airports don’t exactly stop for electrical upgrades, all of the works were completed overnight, with the upgrades carefully staged to keep disruption to operations to a minimum and have everything ready to go again for the day ahead.

It’s a pretty cool reminder of just how much automation happens behind the scenes to get your bag from check-in to the plane.

Although judging by the LEGO airport we found while we were there… apparently we could have saved ourselves some time and just built the whole thing out of bricks.

Industrial automation can take us to some pretty interesting places.

Well… we actually did it.

Turns out electricians are just as competitive off-site as they are on-site…

A huge thank you to Sam from MM for inviting the TA crew out to XKarts!

We had an absolute blast and really appreciate the opportunity to spend some time together outside our usual work environment.

As you can probably imagine, the words “it’s just for fun” were forgotten fairly quickly.

There were a few very competitive drivers, some alleged dive-bombing incidents, a couple of crashes, a few bumps and bruises… and a lot of laughs.

Thanks again to Sam and the MMEM team for having us. Safe to say, we’ll be talking about this one in the office for a while.

October is National Safe Work Month, so let’s talk about the testing that helps keep industrial sites safe.

Electrical safety isn’t just about fixing something when it fails. A big part of it is regular testing, inspections and knowing the condition of your electrical assets before there’s a problem.

Depending on the site, our preventative testing and maintenance can include switchboard inspections, thermal imaging, RCD testing, emergency and exit lighting testing, test & tag, isolator and E-stop testing, power quality monitoring, load checks and ongoing asset records and reporting.

It’s about finding the overheating connection, damaged equipment or electrical issue before it has the chance to become a safety risk, breakdown or unplanned shutdown.

Because preventative testing isn’t just another box to tick.

It’s knowing what you’re working with, what needs attention and what could cause problems next.

Sometimes a repair isn’t the right answer. It’s time for a replacement.

This wash bay switchboard had seen better days. Years of exposure to water and the elements had resulted in corrosion, water ingress and deteriorating components.

Rather than continuing to patch an ageing board, our team replaced it with a new stainless-steel setup designed to better suit the environment.

New boards, new protection, existing circuits tidied up and reconnected, then everything tested before being put back into service.

A much cleaner setup and, more importantly, one that’s better suited to what gets thrown at it every day.

Industrial electrical equipment doesn’t always live in nice, clean conditions. If your switchboards are exposed to water, dust, heat or harsh environments, it’s worth checking what condition they’re actually in before a small issue becomes an unplanned shutdown.
