This is what a bait station looks like when it's doing its job. ๐ŸŽฏ

Our Tech of the Month, Zach, shows the sheer number of termites feeding on the bait in this station, carrying it straight back to the colony to spread through the group.

That's the entire strategy behind baiting: instead of treating what you can see, it lets the termites themselves deliver the treatment to the nest, working the colony down from within.

The more activity you see on the bait like this, the more effective the transfer back to the colony.

Zach checks stations like these as part of our ongoing termite monitoring program.

Got a termite management plan in place, or has it been a while since anyone looked? ๐Ÿ‘€

One mouse tonight, a colony by spring. That's how fast it moves. ๐Ÿญ

Mice, rats, and other rodents move indoors over the colder months looking for warmth and shelter; wall cavities, roof spaces, and quiet corners of sheds or garages are common hiding spots once they've settled in.

Rodents breed year-round, and a pair that moves in now has all winter to multiply.

By the time spring arrives, you're not dealing with one or two rodents; you're dealing with everything they've already produced, often with no obvious signs until numbers are high.

Tom's Pest Control's licensed technicians use family- and pet-safe baiting methods, paired with identifying likely entry points, targeting the current activity while making it harder for the next lot to move in. ๐Ÿ

German Cockroach Treatment in Mawson Lakes: Repeated cockroach sightings

A customer contacted us after repeated cockroach sightings around a kitchen and food preparation area.

Our technician inspected the kitchen carefully, paying particular attention to cupboards, appliances, moisture sources, and other potential harbourage areas.

Rather than relying on spray treatments alone, the treatment involved gel bait placed strategically in locations where German cockroaches were likely to travel or harbour.

The homeowner was also given practical advice around food storage, cleaning, and reducing the conditions that can attract cockroaches.

A second treatment was completed as the next stage of the German cockroach treatment process, targeting the newly hatched cockroaches that emerged after the initial service.

We provide cockroach treatment across Mawson Lakes, Glenelg, Norwood, Prospect, and Salisbury, plus surrounding Adelaide areas.

Contact Tom's Pest Control if you are noticing recurring cockroach activity in your home.

๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ WHAT DOES A PROFESSIONAL GENERAL PEST SPRAY ACTUALLY PROTECT AGAINST?

General pest control is designed to help manage a wide range of common crawling insects that can find their way into your home.

In this Reel, weโ€™re showing you what a professional internal general pest treatment looks like and how our technicians carefully apply the treatment to relevant areas throughout the property. ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ”

Our general pest spray provides protection against many common pests, including spiders, cockroaches (excluding German cockroaches), moths, silverfish, beetles, earwigs and many other unwanted crawlies.

Every property is different, which is why professional treatment focuses on the areas where pests are most likely to enter, hide or travel.

๐Ÿฆ Did You Know? Solar Panels Make Ideal Shelter for Pigeons
The gap beneath your panels shields pigeons from wind, rain and predators. It's a ready made roosting and nesting spot. โ˜€๏ธ

Once they move in, nesting material and droppings pile up under the panels.

Debris washes into gutters and blocks them, droppings corrode panel surfaces and cut output, and the constant cooing and scratching carries straight through the roof.

Signs to look for: feathers, droppings down walls or on the driveway, and pigeons landing on the same spot day after day.

Important: if birds are already nesting, don't block the gaps straight away. You risk trapping birds or chicks inside.

Have the area inspected first so any active nest is dealt with properly, then physical exclusion can seal the space for good.

Tom's Pest Control provides solar panel bird proofing for Adelaide properties around Glenelg, Unley, Norwood, Henley Beach and Brighton.

Finding termites can be stressful, especially when youโ€™re unsure how serious the problem may be. ๐Ÿœ

A professional termite inspection helps identify active termites, potential entry points and conditions that may increase the risk of further activity.

A clear report also gives homeowners a better understanding of what needs attention.

Thank you, Kristy, for trusting our team and sharing your experience. And well done to Thomas for providing a thorough inspection and practical advice.

Early identification can make a big difference when it comes to termite management.

๐Ÿœ๐ŸŒณ Can you tell the difference between termite damage and wood rot? ๐Ÿ”

During an external termite inspection, it's not just your home that needs checking garden timbers, retaining walls, sleepers and timber edging can also reveal important clues.

In this reel, our experienced technician explains how to inspect outdoor timber and spot the difference between termite damage and wood rot.

๐Ÿชต Termite damage usually leaves hollow galleries packed with mud, while the outer timber may still look intact.
๐Ÿ’ง Wood rot is caused by moisture and fungi, making timber feel soft, crumbly or spongy without the distinctive termite tunnels.

Knowing the difference helps identify potential risks early and protects your property from hidden structural damage. Stay tuned for more practical termite inspection tips! ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

Bed bugs in Adelaide, Why one treatment is rarely enough ?๐Ÿ›๏ธ

โŒ Myth: A single bed bug treatment sorts the problem.
โœ… Fact: Most treatments do not reach the eggs, so a second visit is what actually finishes the job.

Bed bug eggs sit tucked deep into seams and cracks where most products cannot get to them. They hatch about a week to ten days later, which is why a problem looks solved and then comes back.

A professional plan builds in a timed follow up visit to deal with the next generation before they mature.

They also settle further into the structure than people expect. Mattress seams, bed frame joints, behind headboards, inside furniture joins and hairline cracks in walls and skirting boards.

๐Ÿ” What to look for
โš ๏ธ Small dark spotting along mattress seams and bed frames
โš ๏ธ Shed casings and tiny pale eggs tucked into seams and joints
โš ๏ธ Activity that returns a week or two after a DIY attempt
Professional treatment covers the harbourage areas rather than just the surfaces, with a timed follow up and monitoring to confirm it is properly clear.

๐Ÿ  From Glenelg and Norwood to Prospect, Unley and Mawson Lakes, Tom's Pest Control provides professional inspection and treatment across Adelaide.
