Meet Jessica πŸ‘‹

A dreamer with excellent taste in Disney movies ✨ If she could join any of the movies, it would be the kingdom from Tangled. Complete with glowing lanterns, breathtaking views, and a little bit of adventure around every corner πŸŽ†

She’s also introduced us to a flavour we didn’t know we needed in ice cream β€” tiramisu πŸ¦β˜•

But what really stands out about Jessica is her genuine passion for helping others. She brings empathy, determination, and a calm, supportive approach to every participant and family she works with. Whether she's navigating complex systems or celebrating milestones alongside participants, she always goes the extra mile to make sure people feel heard, empowered, and supported πŸ’œ

We're so grateful to have her as part of our team 🌟

πŸ’œ This Learning Disability Week, we're encouraging everyone to look beyond labels and see the whole person.

People with learning disabilities are individuals with unique strengths, interests, goals, and aspirations. They deserve to be heard, included, valued, and given opportunities to thrive.

This week, we celebrate the achievements and potential of people with learning disabilities while challenging stereotypes, removing barriers, and advocating for true inclusion. Everyone deserves equal opportunities to learn, work, participate in their community, and experience a genuine sense of belonging.

As Support Coordinators, we are privileged to support people to build skills, increase independence, and achieve what matters most to them.

A little-known fact about me…

I have lived with Rheumatoid Arthritis since I was a child.

There have been times when pain, fatigue, appointments, medications, and uncertainty have felt overwhelming. Yet Rheumatoid Arthritis has also taught me resilience, adaptability, and empathy.

My experience navigating life with a chronic condition is one of the reasons I am so passionate about the work we do at Turning Point Support. I understand how important it is to have people around you who listen, advocate, and genuinely care.

Arthritis doesn’t always look the way people expect. Many people live with significant pain and limitations while continuing to work, raise families, pursue goals, and support others.

It's important we continue raising awareness of both visible and invisible disabilities and creating communities where people feel understood and supported.

Meet Melissa πŸ‘‹

Melissa once served a cup of tea to the King of England πŸ‘‘ Back when he was the Prince of Wales! Although, she might be remembered just as much for forgetting the milk πŸ˜…

As a mum of two boys, Melissa has developed some pretty impressive conflict resolution skills ⭐ She likes to think they're at an elite level!

What inspired Melissa to work in this industry is her passion for helping people improve their quality of life πŸ’› She loves supporting participants to overcome challenges, achieve their goals, and connect with the right supports. For Melissa, every person's journey is unique, and being part of that journey is what makes this work so rewarding.

We’re so lucky to have her as part of our team 🌟

Today we stopped by Blending Our Futures Inclusive CafΓ© for a coffee and a catch-up with some wonderful people doing incredible things in our community.

Blending Our Futures is more than just a great cafΓ©. They create meaningful employment, skill-building opportunities, and pathways to independence for people with disabilities, all while serving exceptional coffee and delicious food.

Businesses like this show what true inclusion looks like β€” creating opportunities, building confidence, and helping people achieve their goals in a supportive environment.

If you're in the Gawler area, pop in for a coffee and support a social enterprise that's making a real difference, one cup at a time. 🀎

Meet George πŸ‘‹

A proud night owl πŸŒ™ His best ideas tend to arrive long after everyone else has gone to bed!

If he could instantly master any instrument, it would be the harmonica 🎡 Those bluesy tunes and the way they can swing from joyful to heartbreaking are right up his alley.

What George prioritises most in his role is remembering that every participant is unique πŸ’› There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to support, and he’s passionate about working alongside each person in a way that suits their individual needs and goals.

We’re so lucky to have him as part of our team 🌟
