After successful years in formula racing and especially in the NASCAR Euro Series, where I was able to develop into one of the strongest young drivers, this represents the next big step for me into international GT racing*.
For me, the path into the cockpit of a McLaren race car is the result of many years of hard work, numerous sporting successes and a strong network in international motorsport.
Young driver development as an important foundation
The foundation of my motorsport career was laid very early. Already in karting I discovered my passion for racing and was able to quickly develop into a promising young driver.
An important part of my development was also the cooperation with Robert Wagner and his organization Motorsportaktiv.at, which has been dedicated for many years to supporting young motorsport talents from Austria.
The decisive step: Entry into EuroNASCAR
Another key moment in my career came several years later. Through motorsport expert and journalist Wolfgang Karl Koepp, I received the opportunity to drive a EuroNASCAR race car for the first time during an official test in France*.
I used this opportunity with full motivation. My speed, technical feedback and rapid adaptability convinced everyone immediately.
Shortly afterwards I entered the EuroNASCAR series, one of the most important development platforms in European touring car racing.
Over the following years I was able to continuously develop there. Several podium finishes and consistent performances made me one of the most promising drivers in the field.
The highlight of my EuroNASCAR career so far came in 2024:

These results confirmed for me that I am on the right path in international motorsport.
The next step: Tests with McLaren
After these successes, discussions about the next step in my career began at the end of 2025.
Together with Wolfgang Karl Koepp, we decided to test my potential in international GT racing.
The first major opportunity came in February 2026 at the Circuito de Navarra in Spain, where I was able to test a McLaren GT race car for the first time.
From the very first laps I felt very comfortable in the car. Despite the new vehicle category for me, I was able to deliver consistently fast lap times and provide the engineers with very good technical feedback.
My performance did not go unnoticed – McLaren invited me for another test.
Confirmation at the legendary Monza circuit
The second decisive step followed in March 2026. I took part in another test as part of the McLaren EVO Trophy at the legendary Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
On this famous high-speed circuit I was able to confirm my performance from Navarra. In particular, my quick adaptation to the car and my consistency over several stints impressed the engineers and team management.
Shortly afterwards I received fantastic news:
I signed a contract with the Italian TARGET Racing Team for the 2026 McLaren Trophy season.

A new milestone in my career
With my entry into the McLaren Trophy, a new chapter in my motorsport career begins.
After successes in junior formula racing and strong performances in the EuroNASCAR series, the next step now follows into international GT racing.
Together with McLaren and the TARGET Racing Team, I want to further develop my career in international professional motorsport and establish myself long-term in GT racing.
The 2026 season will therefore mark another important milestone in my still young but already very intensive motorsport career.
Short Biography – Patrick Schober
I was born on July 30, 2004 in St. Pere de Ribes (Spain) and I am an *Austrian-Slovak racing driver*.
My motorsport career began in karting, before I successfully moved into several junior formula racing series.
A special achievement came in 2021, when I became a four-time Formula 4 champion:

Since 2022, I have been competing in the NASCAR Euro Series, where I quickly established myself as one of the most promising young drivers.

Alongside my racing career, I completed a technical education in *automotive mechatronics* and successfully graduated with my Matura in 2024.

With my entry into the 2026 McLaren Trophy, I am now taking the next major step toward international professional motorsport.

Nach erfolgreichen Jahren im Formelsport und insbesondere in der NASCAR Euro Series, in der ich mich zu einem der stärksten Nachwuchsfahrer entwickeln konnte, folgt damit für mich der nächste große Schritt in den internationalen GT-Sport.
Der Weg in das Cockpit eines McLaren-Rennwagens ist für mich das Ergebnis vieler Jahre harter Arbeit, zahlreicher sportlicher Erfolge und eines starken Netzwerks im internationalen Motorsport.
Nachwuchsförderung als wichtige Grundlage
Die Basis meiner Motorsportkarriere wurde bereits früh gelegt. Schon im Kartsport entdeckte ich meine Leidenschaft für den Rennsport und konnte mich schnell zu einem vielversprechenden Nachwuchsfahrer entwickeln.
Ein wichtiger Teil meiner Entwicklung war auch die Zusammenarbeit mit Robert Wagner und seiner Organisation Motorsportaktiv.at, die sich seit vielen Jahren intensiv der Förderung junger Motorsporttalente aus Österreich widmet.
Der entscheidende Schritt: Einstieg in EuroNASCAR
Ein wichtiger Wendepunkt meiner Karriere folgte einige Jahre später. Durch den Motorsportexperten und Journalisten Wolfgang Karl Koepp erhielt ich erstmals die Möglichkeit, einen EuroNASCAR-Rennwagen im Rahmen eines offiziellen Tests in Frankreich zu fahren.
Ich nutzte diese Chance mit voller Motivation. Meine Geschwindigkeit, mein technisches Feedback und meine schnelle Anpassungsfähigkeit überzeugten sofort.
Kurz darauf folgte mein Einstieg in die EuroNASCAR-Serie, eine der wichtigsten Nachwuchsplattformen im europäischen Tourenwagensport.
In den darauffolgenden Jahren konnte ich mich dort kontinuierlich weiterentwickeln. Mehrere Podestplätze und konstante Leistungen machten mich zu einem der vielversprechendsten Fahrer im Feld.
Der bisherige Höhepunkt meiner EuroNASCAR-Karriere folgte im Jahr 2024:

Diese Ergebnisse bestätigten für mich, dass ich auf dem richtigen Weg im internationalen Motorsport bin.
Der nächste Schritt: Tests mit McLaren
Nach diesen Erfolgen begannen Ende 2025 die Überlegungen für den nächsten Karriereschritt.
Gemeinsam mit Wolfgang Karl Koepp entschieden wir, mein Potenzial auch im internationalen GT-Rennsport zu testen.
Die erste große Gelegenheit folgte Anfang Februar 2026 auf dem Circuito de Navarra in Spanien, wo ich erstmals einen McLaren GT-Rennwagen testen durfte.
Schon bei den ersten Runden fühlte ich mich im Auto sehr wohl. Trotz der neuen Fahrzeugkategorie konnte ich konstant schnelle Rundenzeiten fahren und den Ingenieuren ein sehr gutes technisches Feedback geben.
Meine Leistung blieb nicht unbemerkt – McLaren lud mich daraufhin zu einem weiteren Test ein.
Bestätigung auf der Traditionsstrecke von Monza
Der zweite entscheidende Schritt folgte Anfang März 2026. Ich nahm an einem weiteren Test im Rahmen der McLaren EVO Trophy auf dem legendären Autodromo Nazionale Monza teil.
Auf dieser berühmten Hochgeschwindigkeitsstrecke konnte ich meine Leistung aus Navarra bestätigen. Besonders meine schnelle Anpassung an das Fahrzeug und meine Konstanz über mehrere Stinte hinweg überzeugten die Ingenieure und Teamverantwortlichen.
Kurz darauf folgte eine großartige Nachricht für mich:
Ich unterschrieb einen Vertrag beim italienischen TARGET Racing Team für die McLaren Trophy Saison 2026.

„Ich bin wirklich beeindruckt vom neuen McLaren EVO Trophy. Beim Test in Monza habe ich mich im Auto sofort wohlgefühlt – das Fahrzeug passt zu meinem Fahrstil wie ein Maßanzug. Ein neuer Meilenstein meiner Karriere
Mit meinem Einstieg in die McLaren Trophy beginnt für mich ein neues Kapitel meiner Motorsportkarriere.
Nach Erfolgen im Nachwuchs-Formelsport und starken Leistungen in der NASCAR Euro Series folgt nun der nächste Schritt in den internationalen GT-Rennsport.
Gemeinsam mit McLaren und dem TARGET Racing Team möchte ich meine Karriere im internationalen Profimotorsport weiter ausbauen und mich langfristig im GT-Sport etablieren.
Die Saison 2026 wird damit ein weiterer wichtiger Meilenstein in meiner noch jungen, aber bereits sehr intensiven Motorsportkarriere.
