Energy Simulation for an Exotic Dome in Malaga,Spain
Not every project can be approached using standard models or copy paste solutions.
For the Exotic Dome in Malaga, a structure of approximately 6000 m2, featuring a large body of water with tropical fish and carefully controlled temperature and humidity conditions, we carried out a detailed energy simulation using CYPETHERM EPlus.
The model allowed us to analyse:
-The building’s annual energy balance
-Hourly and monthly temperature profiles
-Actual heating and cooling demand
-The impact of ventilation, infiltration and internal heat gains
-The seasonal performance of heat pumps and air handling units
-Final energy consumption, primary energy use and CO2 emissions
The simulation identified an annual demand of approximately 157 MWh for heating and 627 MWh for cooling, clearly demonstrating the dominance of cooling loads in this unique tropical environment.
With CYPETHERM EPlus, we do not obtain only a final figure. We gain a complete understanding of how the building and its HVAC systems are expected to perform throughout every month of the year, before construction and implementation begin.
