THE ART OF SELECTION

Seeing hundreds of new materials is easy. The real work is deciding which ones deserve a place in a project.

A material needs to be experienced in person — its scale, texture, finish and response to light. Then comes the key question: where, why and how could we actually use it?

At FDI 2026, Abdel and Vincent explored several directions with real potential: ultra-thin stone surfaces, new surface treatments and finishes, more tactile outdoor textiles, and performance fabrics where durability no longer means visual restraint.

The goal is not to collect as many new materials as possible. It is to broaden our professional range and select solutions worth bringing into STUDIO 7 INTERIORS projects.

A trained eye is part of the profession.
It develops through observing, comparing and constantly expanding what we know in design — from materials and finishes to detailing, proportion and quality of ex*****on.
For STUDIO 7 INTERIORS, professional exhibitions are not simply about discovering new collections. They are an opportunity to see things up close, touch materials, experience their true colour and texture, observe how they respond to light, and explore new possibilities in craftsmanship and ex*****on.
Some things simply cannot be fully understood through a screen.
We don’t visit exhibitions looking for ready-made ideas for the next project. We go to expand the range of possibilities we can draw from when the right project comes.

Some pieces make you stop. Not because they belong in a project, but because they make you look twice.

A material used differently. A proportion pushed further than expected. A familiar object given an entirely new character.

That habit of noticing doesn’t switch off when the meeting ends. It follows us through exhibitions, workshops, showrooms — and occasionally onto a very pink sofa.

These moments may look like a break. For us, they’re part of staying curious, exchanging opinions and keeping our visual language moving forward.

بعض القطع تجعلك تتوقف للحظة. ليس لأنها بالضرورة ستصبح جزءاً من مشروع، بل لأنها تدفعك للنظر إليها مرة أخرى.

مادة استُخدمت بطريقة مختلفة. نسب تتجاوز المتوقع. أو قطعة مألوفة اكتسبت شخصية جديدة تماماً.

Good design rarely begins with style.
It begins with understanding how someone will actually live in the space.

WATER REVEALS ARCHITECTURE OVER TIME.
