As electricity demand continues to grow, Abu Dhabi is setting out an ambitious path to transform how power and water are produced.

The emirate plans to cut emissions from its power and water production by more than 45% by 2035, while expanding solar capacity to more than 35 GW, supported by battery storage. The challenge is clear: how do we meet the needs of growing economies without growing their environmental footprint?

Abu Dhabi’s approach highlights the importance of combining renewable energy, energy storage and long-term infrastructure planning to build systems that are not only cleaner, but also more resilient and capable of meeting future demand.

☀️ طاقة أكبر. انبعاثات أقل. ومستقبل مختلف لقطاع الطاقة.

مع استمرار نمو الطلب على الكهرباء، تضع أبوظبي مساراً واضحاً لتغيير طريقة إنتاج الكهرباء والمياه.

وتهدف الإمارة إلى خفض انبعاثات قطاعي الكهرباء والمياه بأكثر من 45% بحلول عام 2035، مع رفع القدرة الإنتاجية للطاقة الشمسية إلى أكثر من 35 غيغاواط، مدعومة بما يصل إلى 15 غيغاواط من قدرات تخزين البطاريات.

والسؤال الأهم هو: كيف يمكن تلبية احتياجات الاقتصادات المتنامية من دون زيادة أثرها البيئي؟

ويبرز نهج أبوظبي أهمية الجمع بين الطاقة المتجددة، وتخزين الطاقة، والتخطيط طويل الأجل للبنية التحتية، لبناء أنظمة أكثر نظافة ومرونة وقدرة على تلبية الطلب المستقبلي.

فمستقبل الطاقة لا يتعلق بإنتاج المزيد فقط، بل بإنتاجه بطريقة أكثر كفاءة وأقل انبعاثاً.

🌳 The Window to Restore the World’s Forests Is Narrowing

A new FAO State of the World’s Forests 2026 report highlights the growing urgency to restore degraded forests and landscapes as pressures from climate change, biodiversity loss, land degradation and development continue to intensify.

The report points to forest and landscape restoration as a pathway to strengthen biodiversity, climate resilience, food security and livelihoods — while stressing the need for stronger investment, inclusive governance and long-term action.

With more than 460 million hectares of forests currently degraded, the message is clear: restoration needs to move from global commitments to meaningful implementation on the ground. 🌱

يسلط تقرير حالة الغابات في العالم 2026 الصادر عن منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (الفاو) الضوء على الحاجة المتزايدة إلى استعادة الغابات والأراضي المتدهورة، في ظل الضغوط الناتجة عن تغير المناخ، وفقدان التنوع البيولوجي، وتدهور الأراضي، والتوسع العمراني ومتطلبات التنمية.

ويشير التقرير إلى أن أكثر من 460 مليون هكتار من الغابات متدهورة حالياً، فيما يمكن لاستعادة الغابات والأراضي أن تسهم في دعم التنوع البيولوجي، والقدرة على الصمود أمام تغير المناخ، والأمن الغذائي، وسبل العيش.

كما يؤكد التقرير أن تحقيق نتائج مستدامة يتطلب عملاً منسقاً، واستثمارات أكبر، ومشاركة المجتمعات المحلية، والانتقال من التعهدات إلى التنفيذ الفعلي على نطاق واسع على ارض الواقع.

الرسالة واضحة: استعادة الغابات لم تعد هدفاً للمستقبل، بل عملاً يحتاج إلى تسريع اليوم. 🌱
