A guardhouse doesn't have to look like a box.

With 3D concrete printing, even a small functional structure can become part of the architecture.

We explored three 3D-printed guardhouse design concepts, each taking a different approach to form:

01 — Sculpted
Deep folds transform the walls into an architectural feature.

02 — Flow
Organic curves allow the form to move naturally around openings and corners.

03 — Rhythm
Vertical folds create depth, shadow and character across the façade.

Dubai's parks already run on 3D printing.

These picnic tables and benches in a Mirdif park were printed in concrete, layer by layer. The fish-scale texture you see is not a finish. It is the print itself.

Curved, sculptural bases like these are hard to justify with moulds. A printer builds them directly, so public furniture can take shapes that formwork rarely allows.

They sit outdoors in daily public use, doing the quiet work park furniture is supposed to do. For our client Dubai Municipality we delivered the Mirdif Park outdoor furniture as part of a full production series of 80 printed furniture sets, now serving public parks across Dubai.
