RMJM Mantova unveils its competition proposal for the new Gingins Sports Complex in Switzerland.

Conceived as more than a place for sport, the proposal creates a new civic connection between the village’s school campus, football field and wider community.

A distinctive butterfly roof, central plaza and winter garden give the complex its identity, while landscaped public spaces extend activity beyond the building and create a welcoming destination throughout the year.

Rooted in its rural Swiss setting, the design brings together sport, education, landscape and community life within one integrated architectural vision.

With multiple RMJM projects currently under construction across the UAE, Terrazzo by Taraf Development is one of the latest to approach completion.

RMJM has supported the project through its journey from design development to site supervision, helping ensure the architectural vision is carried through into the built result.

As construction enters its final stages, the contrast between the earlier site works and the nearly completed development is a reminder that design does not stop at drawings - it continues through coordination, inspection, problem-solving and attention to detail on site.

A museum designed as part of the city.

RMJM Mantova has developed a proposal for the new Architecture and Design Museum in Helsinki, as part of the international design competition organised by the Foundation for the Finnish Museum of Architecture and Design.

Led by Luca Aldrighi, Executive Principal, and Abhinav Goel, Principal at RMJM Mantova, the concept transforms the 10,000 m² museum into an extension of Helsinki’s public realm.

Its stepped façade and accessible roof create a walkable civic landscape overlooking the harbour, while open ground-floor spaces strengthen the relationship between the museum, the waterfront piazza and the city.

Through its accessible roofscape, transparent public spaces and strong connection with the harbour, the museum is envisioned as both a cultural institution and an everyday place for Helsinki - where architecture, landscape and public life become part of one continuous experience.

Set within the wooded wetlands of Ithaca, New York, the Cornell University Laboratory of Ornithology demonstrates how architecture can support scientific research while responding sensitively to its natural surroundings.

Designed by RMJM, the 8,360 m² facility brings together laboratories, collection storage, sound studios, offices, a visitor centre and observatory - creating a home for research, conservation and public engagement under one roof.

A key challenge was accommodating this extensive programme without overwhelming the neighbouring wetlands. The building was deliberately kept below two storeys, with laboratory and collection spaces nestled behind existing trees and the upper floor pulled back to reduce its visual presence.

The result is an architecture that sits quietly within its setting -supporting the study and conservation of birds while reflecting the very environmental values at the heart of the institution.

A new cultural landmark for Helsinki - and an exciting milestone for RMJM Mantova. 🇫🇮✨

We’re proud to have been shortlisted for the new Architecture and Design Museum in Helsinki, with a proposal that looks beyond the idea of a traditional museum.

Set on the city’s waterfront, the design transforms the building into an extension of Helsinki’s public realm. A stepped, accessible roofscape rises from the harbour to create a new civic landscape, while transparent public spaces and a light-filled atrium invite people to move through, gather, explore and connect.

More than a destination for exhibitions, the museum is imagined as a place that stays alive throughout the day - bringing together architecture, design, landscape and city life in one shared experience.

Designed by RMJM, the Becton Dickinson Campus Center in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, reimagines the relationship between architecture and its natural setting.

Rather than occupying the valued open space between the existing campus buildings, the 38,500 sq ft Campus Center is embedded into the landscape, allowing the “Great Lawn” to extend across its roof. The result blurs the boundaries between building and landscape, interior and exterior, roof and ground.

Completed in 2008, the centre was conceived as both a physical and social connection across the Becton Dickinson campus, bringing together spaces including a cafeteria, café, company store and other amenities while opening towards the surrounding lawn and woodland.

Exposed concrete, natural stone, generous glazing and a vegetated roof reinforce an architecture shaped by its site - demonstrating how a substantial new programme can be introduced while preserving the character of an established landscape.

Inspired by the continuous geometry of the Möbius strip, the Luxembourg Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai transforms ideas of movement, openness and circularity into an immersive architectural experience.

Its sweeping form creates a continuous journey through the pavilion, with visitors moving between layers of translucent membrane, curved pathways and light-filled spaces. The pavilion demonstrates how material, geometry and movement can come together to create a distinctive architectural identity.

Working as part of the executive team, RMJM Dubai contributed to the realisation of the pavilion, helping translate its ambitious architectural vision into a completed landmark at Expo 2020.

As the region looks ahead to Expo 2030 Riyadh, we are excited by the opportunities it will create for ambitious, experience-led architecture and look forward to bringing RMJM’s international expertise and regional knowledge to future Expo-related projects in Saudi Arabia.
