It’s incredibly rewarding to see our sketches come to life. The Tilal Al Ghaf bridge marks desert INK’s first bridge design, making it especially satisfying to watch it evolve from early sketches and visualizations into a completed landmark.

Invited by regular collaborators, Timberplay, we recently travelled to Frasdorf, Germany, to experience the exceptional craftsmanship behind Richter Spielgeräte's play equipment. 🌿

The visit offered an opportunity to explore Richter's workshops, connect with fellow landscape architects and play specialists, and experience a selection of exceptional playgrounds across Munich that reflect the creativity, quality and care behind their work.

A valuable few days of learning, exchanging ideas and celebrating the role thoughtful play can have in shaping memorable landscapes.

desert INK transformed Horizon English School’s forecourt from a stark, exposed hardscape into a verdant, shaded space for gathering, play, and sensory exploration. Designed as a ‘living laboratory,’ the intervention brings native and adaptive planting into the heart of the campus and invites parents, pupils and staff to dwell.

Garrick's recent trip to Salzburg, Austria offered a glimpse into a city where landscape, architecture and public life come together effortlessly. 🌿

From the medieval streets and baroque façades of the Altstadt to intimate parks and plazas framed by the dramatic Eastern Alps, every walk revealed another layer of the city. A hike to Fortress Hohensalzburg and a stroll to the iconic Von Trapp mansion from The Sound of Music completed the experience.

A reminder that great cities are shaped as much by their landscapes as they are by their buildings.

Now emerging on site in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Perforated weathered steel forms reinterpret the traditional mashrabiya, filtering the harsh desert sun while creating a sequence of framed views and gathering spaces.

Gabion walls, filled with locally sourced stone, anchor the structure within the landscape and reinforce its connection to place.
