Al Maktoum Archives - Preserving the Foundation of Dubai
Commissioned to reconcile monumental historical stewardship with high-stakes contemporary operations. The facility anchors the lineage that traced its earliest origins along the shores of Al Shindagha and propelled the emirate into the modern global landscape.
This design narrative is most poetically expressed through the traditional Al Khoos palm-frond weaving motif, which moves seamlessly through fiber, metal, and stone. The pattern manifests across three distinct registers: as an authentic woven palm-frond feature wall positioned behind the library bookcase, scaled down into jewel-like metal inlay inserts on custom furniture, and scaled up into a grand, CNC-cut engraved marble principal feature wall.
The resulting atmosphere translates the intimacy and cultural warmth of a traditional Majlis into a highly sophisticated administrative setting.
The Al Maktoum Archives are a timeless monument to Dubai’s enduring identity, proving that the strength of the future remains deeply rooted in the absolute preservation of the past.
