The UAE’s deep connection to pearls can be traced back nearly 8,000 years. Over time, pearling became an essential livelihood for coastal communities. Divers would set out on traditional wooden boats and plunge beneath the sea in search of pearl oysters, weaving pearls deeply into local life and shared cultural memory.
Today, pearls are far more than a commodity. They remain a vital part of the UAE’s cultural heritage, kept alive through cultural activities, heritage displays, and other forms of preservation and storytelling.

Have you ever noticed the flashes of silver and colour on traditional Emirati women’s clothing? ✨🧵
The answer lies in Al Talli, a traditional Emirati craft. Inspired by desert and maritime life, artisans weave colourful and silver threads into intricate patterns that decorate women’s clothing. More than a craft, Al Talli is a cultural story written in thread.
In the past, Emirati women often gathered to practise Al Talli, sharing skills and stories as they worked. Today, the tradition lives on at festivals and cultural events, passing from one generation to the next. ✨
Each piece is a tangible bridge between past and present, carrying a sense of Emirati pride and identity while keeping an age-old tradition alive in a changing world. 🇦🇪
