A little behind the scenes at Vitruvius Design👀

Before the taps are styled, delivered, photographed and sitting pretty in a showroom, there’s this part: pallets, boxes, forklifts, unpacking and a fair amount of controlled chaos.

Fresh stock has officially landed, and yes, opening every box still feels a little like Christmas.

Long before bathrooms became places to rush through, water was something to gather around, build around and find calm beside.

Vitruvius understood the connection between architecture, nature and the way a space makes us feel. Centuries later, we still believe the best design does more than look beautiful.

Warm copper tapware meets timber, stone, African pattern and an uninterrupted view of the bushveld and river beyond.

A bathroom that feels less like a room, and more like a retreat.
Utility. Sustainability. Beauty. And perhaps, a little peace too.

The beautiful part is what you see. This is the part you usually don’t.

Before a Vitruvius Design product finds its way into a showroom, a specification or eventually your bathroom, there is an entire team behind it.
From choosing products and finishes to planning stock, receiving shipments, checking orders, moving pallets and getting everything where it needs to go, good design requires a surprising amount of teamwork.

It feels rather fitting considering where our story began.

Our name comes from Marcus Vitruvius Pollio, the Roman architect whose thinking around purposeful, enduring and beautiful design has survived for more than two millennia.

We’ve simply added trucks, warehouses, spreadsheets and forklifts to the process.

Because Rome wasn’t built by one person. Neither was Vitruvius Design.

Somewhere along the way, bathrooms became the sensible room. Neutral. Safe. Practical.

We disagree.

Why shouldn’t your basin be sculptural? Your tapware make a statement? Your tiles clash just enough to somehow work perfectly?

A bathroom is one of the few spaces where you can close the door on the rest of the world, so you may as well make what’s behind it interesting.

We believe function and creativity belong in the same room.

Design the bathroom you can’t quite explain… you just know you love it.

Sometimes it should also be about cake. 🍰

Our Vitruvius Design x Still Bathrooms Cake Friday is our excuse to open the doors, put the coffee on and get to know a few more of the wonderful people who make De Waterkant what it is.

Come meet the neighbours, wander through the showroom, have an interesting conversation or two and, most importantly, make sure no cake goes to waste.

No presentations. No awkward sales pitch. Just good coffee, good people and a morning well spent.
