ARMED ROBBERY AND SHOOTING INCIDENT – QUEENS CORNER, QUEENSWOOD
Pretoria – 27 January 2026
Axon Security confirms that an armed robbery and shooting incident occurred in the early hours of 27 January 2026 at approximately 03:30 at a customer’s premises within Queens Corner Shopping Centre, Queenswood, Pretoria.
Upon arrival, Axon officers encountered a heavily armed group of suspects. An exchange of gunfire ensued. During the incident, it was confirmed that at least 7 armed suspects confronted the Security Officers. Additional support was promptly requested through operational channels.
During the incident, one Axon Security Reaction Officer sustained gunshot wounds to the leg and hand. He has been stabilised and is receiving medical treatment. Axon Security is fully supporting our member and his family and wishes him a swift and complete recovery.
We can confirm that one suspect was successfully apprehended and appreciate the swift follow-up actions taken after the incident. The Axon Management Team would like to thank the Brinant Tactical Unit for its assistance and the SAPS for their support in this matter. It is believed that at least one other suspect was injured, as indicated by a blood trail found at the scene. The case remains under investigation by the South African Police Service.
Axon Security appreciates the professional response of all emergency and security personnel who arrived on scene to assist with securing the area and stabilising the situation following the incident.
We would like to particularly acknowledge the decisive actions that led to the arrest of the suspect and thank all services involved in ensuring the scene was safely managed afterwards, especially the medical teams that aided our Security Officer.
This incident once again proves the reality of violent crime faced daily in South Africa and the courage required by private security officers who put themselves in harm’s way to protect lives and property. Axon is exceptionally proud of its members and thanks them for their bravery, discipline, and professionalism under fire.
