CHECK CREDENTIALS!
Insist on it. A legitimate electrical contractor will not be offended (they will actually appreciate the request) and will be able to produce all the proof in a jiffy.

1. Must be registered at DoEL
2. Must have a wireman / registered person permanently employed or be one self.
3. The MUST give you a certificate of compliance for any and every electrical installation job.
4. If the contractor employees anyone, even a casual. He / She has to be registered at NBCEI Nation bargaining council of the electrical industry

All the above is the law, and it is your responsibility as the employer to ensure that it is in place. Its crazy I know but it is true.

Why is it important. It actually has nothing to do with the law, it has everything to do with your safety and protection of your property.

My prayer is that it doesnt happen to you, but if you have a loss because of an electrical fault and your contractor did not comply to atleast the 1st three points your insurance will not pay out.

If you loose a loved one, its to late to ask for proof of competence and compliance.
