22 SEPTEMBER 2026 | SUSPECT APPREHENDED
INCIDENT DETAILS:
📍 Main Road / surrounding Sedgefield area

🚔 Suspect handed over to SAPS
A potentially dangerous situation in the Sedgefield community was brought under control on Tuesday morning following the swift response of Sedgefield Defence Force (SDF) Armed Response Officer: Windwaai.

At approximately 11:35, ARO: Windwaai, who was on duty , received a telephone call from the owner of a local coffee shop, reporting that a male had allegedly stolen a knife and was threatening members of the community.

ARO: Windwaai immediately began searching the area. After contacting the coffee shop owner for further information, a description of what the suspect was wearing was confirmed.

While looking for the suspect, ARO: Windwaai witnessed, in Swallow Drive, the suspect brandishing a knife and running towards a female member of the public. ARO: Windwaai, despite the dangerous nature of the situation, like a seasoned rugby player, ran towards the suspect and tackled him to the ground, disarming him of the stolen knife- See Witness Statement. The suspect was found to have in his possession a stolen knife and a small axe, which was removed from his possession.
Backup was requested from other ARO's and control was asked to contact SAPS.
🚔 SAPS quickly arrived on scene, where the suspect was handed over to the responding Constables for arrest and further processing.

This incident demonstrates just how quickly an ordinary morning can develop into a potentially dangerous situation. We commend ARO: Jerome Windwaai for his rapid respons, bravery and for bringing the situation under control. YOU ARE A HERO OFFICER: WINDWAAI!

🚨 MAJOR JOINT OPERATION LEADS TO ARREST OF WANTED SUSPECT IN KLEINKRANTZ 🚨

A massive joint operation between security and law-enforcement teams resulted in the successful apprehension of a wanted suspect in Kleinkrantz on 11 September.
The operation involved:
👮 Sedgefield SAPS
👮 George SAPS / CPU
👮 George Law Enforcement
🛡️ Wilderness Defence Force (WDF)

ARO: Malgas advised, WDF Team Leader: Pine that SAPS had been searching for a suspect for around 2 months
The suspect, was wanted in connection with a housebreaking and theft case under with a cases opened up at SAPS
On 11 September at approximately 15h00, WDF Team Leader: Pine was able to establish the suspect's location in the Kleinkrantz area. The information was immediately relayed to the relevant teams, allowing a coordinated operation to be planned.
At approximately 22h00, the joint operation was launched.
Teams moved into the identified area and successfully located the wanted suspect at the tracked location. The suspect was arrested and handed over to Sedgefield SAPS, with the complainant also present.
👏 A significant breakthrough for law enforcement, particularly after an extensive two-month search.
WDF Team Leader Pine with ARO: Malgas, played a key role in identifying the suspect's whereabouts and coordinating the information that led to the successful arrest.
This incident highlights the importance of strong cooperation between private security, law enforcement and the community.

🔴 Stolen Goods & Alleged Theft

While on duty Armed Response Officer Malgas was patrolling when information was received from SAPS regarding a group of individuals involved in alleged theft.

🔍 Armed Response Officer Malgas immediately patrolled reported streets, where he spotted a suspect matching the description moving toward the bush.

⚡ Thinking fast, Armed Response Officer Malgas circled the area and successfully apprehended the suspect near Oestervangers Street.

🚓 The suspect was detained and handed over to SAPS for further processing.

🚨 INCIDENT REPORT – COPPER CABLE THEFT 🚨
Date: 18 May 2025
Location: Wilderness

At around 11:00- Wilderness Defence Force powered by Southern Civil Defence Force received information regarding suspected copper cable theft, where individuals were reportedly rolling copper cables into a bag with the intent to sell them.

Armed Response Officer: Tjonda immediately contacted the control room and his fellow AR's on duty in the area. The control room informed SAPS of the matter taking place.

The WDF ARO's arrived at approximately 11:30. From the outside, nothing appeared suspicious. Upon knocking, the door was opened by the homeowner. From the doorway, multiple rolls of copper cable were clearly visible inside the sitting room, lying on the floor, with four adult males seated around them.

After observing the copper cables, the occupants were informed that SAPS would be contacted and were instructed to remain on site. No members entered the premises, and the team waited outside.

SAPS arrived on scene and the situation was explained, and SAPS assumed control of the investigation.

Subsequent investigation confirmed that the copper cables belonged to the municipality. The homeowner was arrested on the scene. Further investigation is ongoing.

Wilderness Defence Force powered by Southern Civil Defence Force remains committed to protecting critical infrastructure and working closely with SAPS to combat cable theft and related crimes within our community.

🚨 INCIDENT REPORT | STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED 🚨
📍 10 April 2026 | 16:40

While on duty, Armed Response Officer: Isaacs was patrolling in the Wilderness area.

📞 An alert was received from Ops Manager: Januarie regarding a stolen vehicle taken from 39 Sands Road. Tracking indicated the vehicle was moving toward the Touwsranten / Hoekwil area via 7 Passes Road.

🚓 ARO: Isaacs was instructed to proceed via Whites Road in an attempt to intercept.
👀 No moving vehicle was spotted initially, however an updated tracking ping led to a breakthrough.

✅ The stolen vehicle was located abandoned a few hundred meters from the Whites Road turnoff onto 7 Passes Road, hidden along a pathway leading to a construction site.

🚔 SAPS and towing services arrived on scene and the incident was handed over to the responding SAPS members and SCDF stood down.

👏 Excellent coordination and rapid response ensured a successful recovery of the vehcile.

🐾 Throwback to an Amazing Cause! 🐾

On 21 March 2026, almost a month ago already, we had the absolute pleasure of assisting Sedgefield Animal Matters with a fantastic charity drive — and what a success it was! 💙

Together, we helped arrest a number of furry “fur-gïtives” 🐶😼 who were safely transported to Pawcatraz until they could post bail of R5 000 each 😉

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Sedgefield community and surrounding areas, the target was not only met but exceeded, with an amazing R54 000+ raised for this worthy cause! 🙌

👏 Thank you to every single person who donated, supported, shared, and showed up. Your kindness truly makes a difference to the lives of animals in need.

😢With heavy hearts, the SCDF family mourns the passing of our beloved colleague, Saul Davids, who passed away on 20 March 2026.

🕊️Saul was truly loved by all who knew him. He held a special place in the hearts of the Van Rensburg family and the many clients of Van Rensburgs Foods, where he was stationed.

🫂Saul took immense pride in his work and was always ready with a warm greeting, a kind word, and a genuine smile. His dedication and love for interacting with customers never went unnoticed.

❤️He was more than an employee—he was a friend, a familiar face, and a valued member of our community. Saul’s presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the lives he touched every day.💞
