Pre-sale refurbishments.

A personal favourite of Trent's after successfully flipping multiple homes and investment properties over the past 20 years, most of those achieving record prices in their respective regions. From basic refurbs on the principle of "let's tidy up the worst aspects of the home", right through to full refurbishments to create dream homes that evoke wild emotions in potential buyers.

Liam and Elyse's home was a roller coaster. A basic house on an incredible property, initially there were no plans for renovations, until a water leak was discovered in the ensuite. We discussed repairs and an ensuite renovation, then moving some walls to make the ensuite more functional and create a walk in robe, and before long there was a new kitchen, some new windows, a paint job, a wedding hosted at the house and a baby!

All seemed settled, the house was looking nice, and it was now more functional. Then came the plans to sell. The guys at Chincogan Real Estate gave them some recommendations for fixing up a few more aspects of the home to gain the maximum sale price. We were brought back in to assist, and turned what had been a pretty rugged house into an absolutely beautiful home justifying it's position on it's stunning lakeside property.

The bathroom underwent a refurb, with a new toilet, shower screen, paint, fixtures and vanity without having to change the existing tiles. The powder room was properly walled off. The ground floor concrete was polished, the first floor had new engineered wide board flooring laid. The deteriorating rear stairs were replaced. The breezeway was sheeted and painted, and a new laundry built. Ceiling linings were installed under both the verandah and balcony, and a wide hardwood handrail was added to the existing balcony balustrade to create a perfect setting to enjoy the view over the lake. Some new lights, new door handles, some plaster repairs and the entire house was repainted. The difference is incredible.

We did this in conjunction with the fantastic local trades that we work with, Brett Donnelly Plastering, Mark from Wet Bandits Plumbing, Ben from BT Electrical, Hank from Decorated Earth and Alex from Arca Cabinetry. All great guys, all worthy of your trust for any future job requirements.

In a buyers market, potential purchasers will have endless options. By presenting your home at its best, you take away any hesitations in buyers as to what problems may lie below the surface considering those that they can already see. Presenting a perfect home for sale reassures buyers that once they go through the inconvenience of moving home, they'll be able to relax into their new house without the hassles or drama of having to repair or renovate themselves once they arrive. Striking emotion in multiple buyers that NEED to be the lucky ones to land your perfect home creates the competition that drives up sale prices based on that emotion rather than rational thinking, achieving the ultimate outcome for vendors.

It's not that we haven't been working.

We've almost completed a substantial pre-sale refurbishment in Wooyung, we're into a decent sized deck repair job in Federal, and have begun restumping just outside of Uki.

The biggest news though is definitely Anicca bringing the newest team member (looking to settle on the name Yindi) onto site for the first time in Federal today. What she lacks in work ethic right now, she more than makes up for in cuteness levels.

We've got space soon to tackle any of your projects, anything from little Yindi ones to big Coco jobs. Give us a call and we'll come take a look

We’re Trent + Anicca, local carpenters building homes we’re proud of.

Since 2020, we’ve worked across the Northern Rivers on everything from high-end homes to decks, renos, cabins and custom builds, including an award-winning sustainable home in 2024.

Who are Wise Build?

Local carpenters Trent Wiseman and Anicca Rubsamen have been working together locally since 2020 for multiple high end architectural, health and sustainability focused building companies. More recently, we've been working on our own projects together for local clients, and through shared passions for true integrity, for clear, honest, respectful communication and interactions, solid reliability and work ethics, for health and sustainability, and providing high building quality and finishes to create spaces for our clients, homes that they adore within the community that we love, we've now decided to create Wise Build Byron to deliver the best in building to the Shire.

Along the journey together, we've built and run jobs for local builders that have received multiple award nominations, winning the 2024 Master Builders Best Sustainable House under $1.2M award for the Eureka project. We've built amazing homes, done renovations and extensions, built carports, magazine worthy fancy bike sheds, high end motel cabins, huge decks, shop fit outs and designed and built innovative custom fences. We've worked with timber, steel, block, h**p and near every construction material. We've framed, floored, installed windows, doors and cabinets, we've decked, concreted, tiled, rooved and more. We're both qualified carpenters with decades of combined experience, and certificates 4 and 5 in building and construction, currently in the process of obtaining full building licenses.

We've observed building done right and not so well along the way, and now offer our own skills, experience, ethics and passion for excellent building, and will work towards getting it done at the most affordable possible price as we're getting established.

We're happy to look at anything from small maintenance and repair jobs, through our specialties of building perfect decks, renovations and extensions, up to taking on new builds in conjunction with the legends at Balanced Earth.

Tiny house setting all decked out for the lads in Myocum. Working with Jhon Tyler, we've built a multi purpose office building with laundry to compliment the style of the tiny home in matte Monument Trimclad. 200mm insulated panels provided over 100m2 of roofing for the building and extensive wide board Kwila deck, set amongst sandstone blocks to fit into the contours of the surrounding environment, enjoying incredible views over the valley.

Working alongside fantastic local tradesmen including plumber Andrew Porter and Browns Earthmoving, a perfect finish was achieved to provide great spaces inside and out for the boys, a doggy door to give full access for Pippa, and the carport built with recycled timbers finished just in time to protect the Rangey and Telsa from one of our wild tropical storms.

It was a pleasure to build, aside from getting into some of the rocky ground, and hopefully will be enjoyed for years to come.

Decks usually look good on top… but it’s also what’s underneath that matters.

With all the rain and flooding around here, we see a lot of decks failing from the ground up. Rot, mould, movement, poor drainage, and timber that just wasn’t suitable, or hadn't been properly prepared and maintained.

If it’s not done properly, it won’t last.

At Wise Build, we focus on getting the structure right first so it actually holds up over time, as well as the pursuit of perfection to create a space that you'll love that looks, feels and performs great.
