Throw back to a project we completed late last year on behalf of a much valued customer. The full lighting upgrade across a residential site transformed the building into a brighter more modern home for the residents.

Our scope of works included:
• Upgrading 150+ communal and emergency light fittings.
• Installing new emergency lighting test facilities for easier compliance and maintenance.
• Installing decorative feature lighting in the lounge.
• Reconfiguring lighting controls with MK grid switches alongside Quinetic wireless + wired switching
• Renewing the external lighting to improve safety and visibility around the building

The result is a brighter, safer and more energy-efficient environment for residents and staff.

If you’re planning a lighting upgrade or need advice on emergency lighting compliance, feel free to get in touch.

We’ve recently completed the installation of new up-and-down wall lights to the front of this property, positioned either side of the garage and the main entrance to enhance both appearance and functionality.

The fittings use Tapo GU10 smart lamps, offering features such as scene setting, timed automation, integration with other Tapo devices, and voice control via Alexa and Google Home. All lighting can be managed remotely via a mobile app.

This provides the client with a modern, flexible lighting solution that improves curb appeal while adding convenience and control.

We’ve been a little quiet on here… but for a good reason.

Last year was flat-out busy on the tools and behind the scenes, so social media took a back seat. This year we’re changing that and we’ll be sharing more of the day-to-day reality of what we do across Arch Services.

Today’s been a good example:
📍 Nottingham carrying out surveys for fire alarm upgrades, including communal area systems and mains powered detection within flats.
📍 Grantham adding wireless fire detection to a newly built scooter store, remotely located from the main building. A neat solution where cabling just isn’t practical.

From surveys and installs to upgrades, testing and the odd head-scratcher, we’ll be posting more regular updates so you can see what goes on day to day.

Thanks for sticking around and welcome to anyone new 👋
More to come.

🔧 Fuse Board Upgrade Completed ✅

As part of an EICR we carried out back in February, we identified a few issues with this old Hager fuse board — over 25 years old and no longer compliant with today’s regulations.

With the green light from our client, we replaced it with a brand new Hager 14-way unit with Type A RCBOs. These boards are a pleasure to install — sleek, reliable, and built to meet modern standards.

If you’re due an EICR or think your consumer unit may need upgrading, get in touch today. We’ll make sure everything is safe, compliant, and future-proof. ⚡️

Today, we’ve been in Kettering for a reactive job on behalf of a regular customer. During a recent service, it was identified that radio signal had dropped for the wireless smoke detector and sounder in the boiler room at one of the retirement schemes they manage. To resolve this, we were instructed to install an additional Ziton Radio Cluster Communicator (RCC) to the existing system to boost signal into the boiler room.

Working in a listed building always presents its own unique challenges—especially when sourcing a suitable 230V power supply. Initially, this appeared to be an issue, but after some investigation, we located a distribution board in the boiler room that was conveniently fed directly from the main supply fuse. This meant the fire alarm supply would remain unaffected by faults on other circuits. Even better, the board had the correct size spare MCB available, almost as if it were meant to be!

After running signal tests, we confirmed that the new RCC would successfully communicate with the rest of the system from its location in the boiler room. With that confirmed, we installed a new key switch isolator fed with Prismian FP200 cable for local isolation of the RCC.

To complete the work:
✅ We tested the new electrical circuit.
✅ Labeled all new devices and MCB.
✅ Applied “Fire alarm – do not switch off” labels to the boiler room fuse board and isolator.
✅ Verified that all connected devices operate correctly via the new RCC.

Last week, our team successfully completed an installation project, working hard to meet our client’s deadline.

Following a recent fire risk assessment, we were instructed to carry out a number of upgrades and modifications to ensure full compliance and safety:

🔧 Scope of Work:
* Altered the existing L5 fire alarm system to support the stay put policy as per the FRA.
* Installed detection devices, manual call points, and visual beacons in the basement.
* Upgraded the fire alarm from a conventional to an addressable system, reusing the existing wiring.
* Relocated detectors that were incorrectly positioned and added detection where it had previously been missed.
* Install an interface for the grounding of the lift when the fire alarm is activated.
* Replaced the old, non-functional AOV system:
* Installed 2 actuators for each stairwell window and 1 actuator for a roof window on the fourth floor.
* Supplied and installed 3 new AOV panels, fully interfaced with the fire alarm system.
* Fitted 5 manual override switches for manual opening/resetting of the AOV system.
* Installed dual-path signalling to an alarm receiving centre.
* Programmed the cause and effect logic.
* Installed general and emergency lighting around the building’s perimeter.
* Fully tested and commissioned the entire system, including verification of existing cabling for compliance.

📘 The project was handed over with:
* A complete Operation & Maintenance manual
* Training provided to responsible persons
* Full system sign-off and handover to the client

Over the past three days, ARCH Services has been working in Norwich to upgrade fire safety systems across 37 flats in a sheltered housing scheme.

Our work involved modifying existing Grade D1 fire detection systems and enhancing the main communal Grade A alarm system to reduce unnecessary call-outs. These updates were required following an upgrade to the site’s warden call system from hard-wired to wireless.

To ensure full integration, we installed Aico Ei428 relays alongside the existing Aico 3000 series detectors in each flat. These now communicate directly with the main fire panel. We also integrated the new wireless warden call tokens via Ei414 relays, enabling alerts to the onsite manager or external careline.

All 230V wiring alterations have been tested, with minor works certificates issued for each flat. Full system testing has been completed, and all relevant Grade A and D1 certification provided.
