Abode Construction It’s time to say goodbye

After many years of enjoyable building with a good team, the time has come (after trying to keep things afloat) to close the business.

Last year I made nearly £10k loss and even when you make it obvious to customers how tight things are.

Stating how they need to allow for a 8-12% contingency etc.

No one ever asks how the financial situation is?!
I should have been more assertive,
I wasn’t ….
I should have been more money orientated
I wasn’t.

Anyone who had building work with myself and my brother from lockdown onward.

Please appreciate how cheap a job you have had done.
I am paying for it now.

I cannot continue the business any longer.
Without becoming insolvent.

Many thanks to every customer we have ever had.

Tonight is the last night of abode construction.

So after many years of working together, my brother Dan Lane has decided his body is not for physical work any more and is pursuing a career teaching the next generation of builders. He starts his new career on 19th October. I will be continuing with the business along with long-standing excellent builder Morgan Bower who we have worked with for the last 18+ months.
We will also have have our labourer of the last 8+ months and hoping to combine forces with another local firm to provide more hours available, meaning smaller jobs we can hopefully fit in again.
More details to follow.
Good luck Dan! You will kind of be missed but you need to do what you need to do.
