Are these weeds?

No, they are seed heads. Even though hybrid bermudas are sterile, they will produce seed heads in the spring. These seed heads will not produce any viable new growth as hybrid Bermuda grass is vegetatively propogated.

Why It Happens:
• Reproductive Cycle: Like most grasses, Bermuda naturally produces seed heads as part of its reproductive cycle.
• Stress Indicator: Sometimes, excessive seed head production can be a sign of stress—such as from low fertility, or drought.

What to Do:
• Mow regularly: Frequent mowing (without scalping) helps keep seed heads under control and improves the appearance of your lawn.
