WA Premier Mark McGowan has announced a 3 day hard lockdown from 12:01am Saturday 24th April for the Perth and Peel region.
Masks will be mandatory from 6:00pm Friday 23rd April.
The lockdown requires that all people stay at home except:
•to attend work because they can't work from home or remotely;
•to shop for essentials like groceries, medicine and necessary supplies;
•for medical or health care needs including compassionate requirements and looking after the vulnerable; and
•to exercise one hour per day
During the lockdown any person leaving their home will be required to wear a mask at all times, including at workplaces and on public transport.
Can building sites stay open?
Yes. As was the case during the lockdown in February this year, building sites were deemed to be ‘essential’ and as such can remain open during this lockdown period. This also applies to renovation activity.
Can display homes stay open?
No. Display homes must stay closed for the duration of the lockdown.

Federal Government HomeBuilder Extension :
A reminder that on 29 November 2020, the Federal Government announced an extension to the HomeBuilder program.
Key Changes to the HomeBuilder program include:
• A reduced $15,000 HomeBuilder grant applies for building contracts (new builds and substantial renovations) signed between 1 January 2021 and 31 March 2021(inclusive).
• Crucially, the deadline for commencing the building work has been extended out to a maximum of 6 months from contract signing date (rather than 3 months are was previously the case).
This applies to all HomeBuilder-eligible contracts signed since 4 June 2020, including those for $25,000.
• The deadline for submitting HomeBuilder applications has been extended to 14 April 2021.
This deadline applies to all eligible contracts signed since 4 June 2020, including those for the $25,000 grant.
• The $25,000 grant is still available for eligible contracts signed before 31 December 2020.
• The property price cap remains at $750,000 in Western Australia.
• There are changes with respect to the licensing date of the builder doing the work.
• Where the contract is signed on or after 29 November 2020, the builder or developer must have had a valid license/registration up to 29 November.
• For contracts signed before 29 November 2020, the builder/developer must have been registered/licensed before 4 June 2020.
All other existing program criteria applies: That is, the other existing eligibility criteria remains in place and the $25,000 grant will still be made available for eligible contracts signed on or before 31 December 2020.

What is a new home construction grant ?
Two grants are available in the construction industry.
These grants are different to the Commonwealth Government's HomeBuilder scheme. If you receive one of these grants, you may still be eligible to receive the $25,000 HomeBuilder grant.
A grant of $20,000 is available for eligible applicants who
enter into a contract to build a new home on vacant land or
enter into an off-the-plan contract to purchase a new home as part of a single-tier strata scheme.
The contract must be entered into between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020.
If you receive one of these grants, you may still be eligible to receive the first home owner grant.
There is no cap on the purchase price or value of the contract.
Multiple grants can be paid to the same applicant on separate transactions that meet the criteria for each grant.
Government Launches New HomeBuyer Program
In an effort to support the residential construction sector, the government has announced that all eligible owner-occupiers (not just first home buyers) will receive a $25,000 grant to build their dream home or substantially renovate their existing one.
Individuals and couples who earn less than $125,000 and $200,000 respectively will be eligible, where their building contract is entered into between June 4 and December 31 and their property is valued below $1.5mil before construction.
