So i was hired by this contractor to come install this presidential roof after the other crew was fired. The home owner wasnt happy with their performance.

So we are here helping the contractor make sure his client is happy and well taken care of.
We dont usually subcontract. However i love my community and after meeting the home owner and talking with him about what he wanted it only made sense to help them fix the situation.

Just so you know we also do luxury!!

Money is not our first priority. Serving our community is.

Roof replacement for one of my return clients. He had two rentals that needed the roofs replaced.

We cut in the ventilation thats been missing.
We replaced the old plexiglass skylight cover with a new double pane glass skylight.

Client is happy and this tenant will see a real difference in their cooling bill this summer with proper ventilation.

Hi. Im Zeb. I primarily work with homeowners and my community in my business. I'm currently fighting to make some changes here in Idaho to protect homeowners even more.

So I had a meeting with the building department in canyon county Monday. We met to discuss a proposal I had to remove the line from the existing ice barrier code that says "where there has been a history of ice damming causing water intrusion."

Essentially they're only concern was additional labor and financial burden on the building departments and inspectors.
They acknowledged the need for ice barrier. And even concluded that it is required per code where there's a history of ice damming. And they also agreed that there's been ice damning all over the treasure valley.
Ultimately they suggested that I take this to the state to DOPL.

Instead before I take us to the state I'm developing a rvi or a remote virtual inspection program. This program would allow automatic issuance of roofing permits to any contractor who has a valid license. It would also require photos of underlayment including ice barrier before allowing the contractor to move on to the installation portion of their job. If the application works properly the permit should be issue automatically as well as the underlimit inspection should be able to be passed automatically with the photos. And the final inspection should be able to be passed automatically. The only need for human intervention would be if someone tried to submit blurry photos or AI photos or some other reason the pictures got flagged for human review.

The only reason there's no accountability in new construction is because we don't have the manpower to inspect every roof.

The program that I'm developing would fix this issue entirely.

The photos or screenshots of the app that I'm currently developing in order to propose to the state for adoption.

This application would entirely remove their argument for additional labor and financial burden.
This program will also add accountability to contractors and create a permanent record in order to keep contractors accountable for the work there performing on people's homes.

So he knows how we install and knows that we go above and beyond to make sure nothing leaks. Everything is installed and flashed correctly. All penetrations sealed, all fasteners caulked and things done correctly per building code and manufactures specs.

Listen up roofers!!!

You cant be an idiot!!

You need to know whats going on. How things work. When and where to install second layers.

You salesmen need to get out of the industry because your putting peoples lives at risk!!

This house was an old ladies home!! This home has a 8lb deadload capacity. Two layers of shingles along with fasteners and all other components as well as the OSB puts the dead load of this roof at 9 to 10 lbs.

If you don't know what you're doing then you need to get out of the industry and stop putting people's lives at risk. This roof could have collapsed.

Either know what you're doing or go away!

We do not do second layers unless there is a significant leak or home owners insurance is going to drop the home owners policy.

Heres why.

A second layer cuts the life of the shingle in half. Google will say it cuts 5 to 10 years off the life but i would argue here in Idaho with our bipolar weather the shingles take more of a beating.

Air pockets in between the layer of shingles become tiny ovens and bake the shingles from the inside out. Effectively drying out the tar that holds them together. Degranualization happens at a faster rate due to this and the shingles can come completely apart.

I have had flippers ask me to do it, ive had general contractors ask me to do it and every time i explain why im not and theyve hired different roofer that are willing to self you a 15 year roof for the cost of a 30 year roof.

If youre that kind of scumbag just know that im coming after you specifically!

Ice and water shield is just the beginning of what im going to do here in Idaho.

Im also going to provide all of this information to occupational licensing when i start the fight for a contractors licensing exam!

Monday morning i will be meeting with canyon county commissioners to discuss my proposal to enforce the ice barrier code on every house across the county.

Heres the deal. Money has control of our industry. Craftsmanship is slipping due to people thinking they can do what tradesmen do or sell our services better.

Inexperience and especially to you idiots who are just salesmen and dont install anything arent seeing the problems. On the other side of that coin the installers aren't being paid enough to not just get the job done quickly.

So you see a discrepancy where the contractors who are in the field should be bringing these issues up. Contractors in the field should be bringing this to inspectors and builders and general contractors attention.

However the love of money here in Idaho Outweighs all of that. I've seen it time and time again. Entire buildings framed like crap where the siders have to do some sketchy stuff in order to make it look good. Roofers having to do short courses or multiple short courses to correct major framing issues where the roof isn't square. I once installed a door for a pantry and the door was 2 in out of plum. We showed the superintendent on that job and he told us just to trim it out because there was nothing we could do about it at that stage. We had to use probably a hundred staples to staple the trim to the door frame and then we forced it back to the wall and use probably 200 staples to staple the trim to the wall. Then we used an entire tube of caulk to fill the gap and cover the staples.

We are heading downhill as far as building quality goes and I feel bad for anyone that's purchasing a new house.

All the while major builders are fighting back against Idaho working with ice in order to remove illegal immigrants. They're saying there's not enough labor to get all the work performed in the valley and that we need to keep illegals.

Well I can tell you right now that there's a bunch of contractors out there that go through slow periods in the winter. There's a bunch of contractors out there fighting to stay busy. There's a bunch of contractors out there who would love to have the work of being taken up by illegal immigrants.

It's everywhere. The love of money outweighs the love for our community and it's a disgusting business practice that has destroyed the United States and forced us into the situation we are in now. Corporations are out of control. Inflation's out of control. Corporations are shrinking products and charging more. Fuel is being price gouged and there's been multiple instances of Maverick and shell stations being sued over price gouging for fuel.

Something's got to change. And some of us have to be on the side of making things better. That's why I'm fighting for homeowners.

If we don't make major changes quickly I'm actually worried that if we do get another snowmageddon,
The 27 million in damage that was caused by the last one ill most likely increase if we have another major event like that.

Oh wait its called ice and water shield and its required by code due to ice dams and water intrusion at eaves and in valleys.

We are currently helping Eric Grover with Snake River Roofing with their schedule.

Two layer tear off, sheathing repairs, ice and water shield over the entire roof because its a 3/12 pitch, new solar tube installation, and new shingle installation.

Listen if youre not going to hire me, which would be a mistake obviously... You should talk with Eric. Hes knowledgeable and experienced and does things the right way to protect his clients!

He also has a lifetime warranty like we offer!!!

Small job for some family friends. Thanks for the work Ron and Nikki.

We have 4 roof replacements in deck. One client is out of the country. One has two rentals he needs the roof replaced on. And the other is dealing with probate for their fathers house and have decided to move back to idaho from arizona. So a lots up in the air but we are getting busy! Thank you Jesus for always taking care of me.

Our schedule will be filling up quickly this summer.
