Two jobs at the same time isn’t easy with just three men. Luckily they are right in the same neighborhood. I spent the morning doing an infill on a patio that had a small section that wasn’t completed by the previous installer while the crew kept fabricating stones for the walkway project a few houses down. We joined forces in the afternoon to round out the day. 💪

All jokes aside this guy right here has been working his ass off every day and keeping up on our equipment maintenance to boot! The job is hard so we like to keep the mood light. Keep up the good work kid 👍!

Busted out the turf for these walkways in South Hero. There will be a patio and fire pit going in on the property as well. Our flag stone won’t be delivered just yet so we’re heading off to St Albans this morning for a small project.

Made my way to the New North End in Burlington to inspect this walkway for a prospective client. In situations like this, where the underlying concrete slab is still in reasonably good condition, the key is addressing the failing mortar joints before additional water intrusion causes further damage.

One option is to grind out and repack only the joints that have failed and leave the rest alone. While that approach can work, my opinion is to take the opportunity to redo all of the joints at once. Doing the entire walkway now gets ahead of future deterioration rather than chasing individual failed joints every few years.

The result is a more uniform appearance with consistent color throughout, improved water resistance, and greater long-term durability. Sometimes doing it once—and doing it right—is the most cost-effective approach in the long run. And that will be my recommendation.
