Wipes Clog Pipes ... During the pandemic, we have seen a 340% increase in the number of disposable wipes and other trash in our sanitary sewer systems -- and that's just what we have been able to catch in our protective screens. Please remember, wipes, gloves, paper masks -- they all need to be disposed of in the trash can, not down the toilet. Adding these products to our sewer systems damages pumps and can cause backups in pipes -- either ours or the ones in your house! Photo shows just SOME of what we pulled out of one of our pump stations in less than a week!

EDIT: The storms have passed and the ALERT is cancelled. Thank you to those that shared. RIGHT NOW YOU CAN HELP SAVE LAKE ST. CLAIR. This is an OFFICIAL Save Lake St. Clair S.O.P.R. Alert for MACOMB AND OAKLAND COUNTIES. BOTH HAVE ALREADY STARTED DUMPING SEWAGE OVERFLOW with all the rain we received.... and what’s worse is a lot more is coming tonight and tomorrow morning. Prevent sewage from being dumped into the lake and help prevent peoples basement from flooding.

Please LIMIT your water usage the rest of the night and into Sunday Morning. Oakland and Macomb has received a lot of rain and HAS ALREADY STARTED DUMPING SEWAGE OVERFLOWS. We have warnings that some severe thunderstorms are coming and will bring some significant rain with them.

We have already dumped over a BILLION gallons of sewage overflows from one storm already this year. (yes just one storm) Over 1 billion gallons was dumped this year with Oakland dumping most of that so if you are in Oakland county please share this message and help. Why should your care? Your drinking water comes from Lake St Clair. Fact Lake St Clair provides drinking water to 40% of the State of Michigan.

Fact we on average dump over 1.5 Billion gallons each year.

YOU CAN HELP. Wait to do your laundry. Wait to shower. Wait to run your dishwasher. Use the method if it's yellow let it mellow. Every gallon we can reduce we use is a gallon we do not have to dump in the lake during this heavy rain.
