I am a Stone Mason, Sculptor, and Graphic Designer and I live in Brownsville, Vermont. I grew up in Northampton, Massachusetts and moved to a Commune in the Turners Falls/ Gill area when I was eleven. I couldn’t help but get involved and took my first carpentry job at fifteen; from that experience I was introduced to masonry, then stone masonry and was instantly hooked on what would become a life

long passion. My work as a stone mason and sculptor has been very successful. My stone walls have been featured on Bob Vila’s “Home Again”, my wall sculptures on Home and Garden Television’s “That’s Clever” , and both in print media in Vermont and New Hampshire. Until the fall of 2008 I was typically booked for work about a year in advance, but when the markets crashed, many clients called to cancel future projects. With no work scheduled I returned to school to study Graphic Design. I learned Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and HTML. In the spring of 2010 I self-published my first book,The Modern Stone Age, The Stone Work of Hector Santos. My works as a Graphic Designer are inspired by the Vermont landscape, architecture, food, and sports. At 50, when I am not moving stone or pixels on my computer, I can be found shredding on my skateboard or riding through the woods on my mountain bike.
