Good Morning Y'all
On my walk through the garden this morning, this hymn came to mind. I could almost hear my dad singing it. He loved hymns and often filled the house with songs of praise.
For the beauty of the earth, For the glory of the skies, For the love which from our birth Over and around us lies,
Christ our Lord, to Thee we raise This our hymn of grateful praise.
Today I'm thankful for God's creation, for the beauty of the earth, and for the memories of my dad. 🌻💙

🌱 Birthday Reflections from the Garden 🌱

As I enter my 65th birthday month, I read these words very differently than I did as a younger working adult.

When you're self-employed, there really is no such thing as retirement—but I do have more freedom in my days now than ever before. I've chosen to spend much of that time growing a garden that feeds my family, friends, neighbors, and even my chickens.

One of the greatest joys has been sharing God's love through simple acts of compassion and the free gifts that come from the bounty of the garden. A bouquet of flowers, a basket of vegetables, fresh eggs, or herbs picked just for someone—these small gifts can brighten a day and remind us that we are blessed so that we can bless others.

This verse brings to mind something Charles Stanley once said about retirement: "There is no mention of retirement in the Bible." We may retire from a career, but we never retire from serving God and serving others.

"Keep laboring—even if you choose to retire from your vocation. Just as certain fruit improves as trees age, years of walking with God should yield greater fruit."

My prayer is that the years ahead will produce not only beautiful flowers and healthy vegetables, but also kindness, generosity, wisdom, and faithfulness—the kind of fruit that lasts forever. 🍅🌻❤️

GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE!
🌻 First Sunflower Harvest! 🌻

Today I harvested my first sunflower from the garden! I cut one of the smaller blooms while leaving the larger one to enjoy outdoors and feed the pollinators.

I'm also doing a little flower farmer experiment. 💐 The sunflower is part of an arrangement I'm storing in the refrigerator to see how far ahead I can make bouquets while keeping them fresh.

Every flower teaches me something new, and it's exciting to see the garden producing blooms for both beauty and bouquets!
