ANNOUNCEMENT
Oakhill Landscapes Ltd has come to an end. Like the famed Norwegian Blue parrot, it has 'ceased to be'. (Apart from a few legal 'i's and 't's to dot and cross).
It wasn't meant to be like this, this wasn't what was planned, but undoubtedly it is what it is, and the final day has arrived.
I have been unbelievably fortunate, I have literally 'lived my dream'. My hobby became my job and a life-long career that rarely felt that I was going to work.
In the 80s I had a goal, learn horticulture and landscaping and start a company that one day would be good enough to become a member of the professional association; to become a landscaper. And undoubtedly, that's what happened. And now it's time to get my hobby back.
I physically stopped working over a year ago, but with virtually everything sold off, it's now time to 'pull the shutters down one last time '.
I have so many people to thank, I inevitably couldn't mention them all individually, so I won't try. But, of course, my late mum stands out, who in the early days, made sure the office worked, and kept me fed.
Many family and friends for whom we have built and maintained gardens, and the hundreds of clients, for whom we worked.
The many (20+) who have in one way or another, pulled on the Oakhill Landscapes t-shirt, and in many cases, gone on to forge their own horticultural or landscaping careers.
To the support network of the APL, , Bradstone , HSL Accountants, and the many, many other businesses on The Star Trading Estate, who made the job so much easier and definitely better.
To the many chiropractors and physios, who have patched me up, and kept me going over the years.
And to the friendships and relationships that have been forged over what is more than 40 years in the industry, 34 as Oakhill Landscapes.
Now it's time for me, and the recently installed Mrs. M to get on with the next chapter, because what comes next is always the most important.
