Did you know that Muir Timber Systems was once Scot Yacht? The change happened in 1998!

Back in the 70s & 80s, Scot Yacht produced the iconic UFO craft 🚤 — a real standout of its time (see below!).

Over the years, the business evolved and diversified into timber manufacturing, supplying frames, kits, door sets, and a wide range of timber products to our sister company, Muir Homes.

Now, we supply a wide range of clients across the construction industry.

Today, we’re proud to still be operating from the very same site — although it’s grown quite a bit since those early days!

We were delighted to welcome BE-ST to site at the Younger Building in Edinburgh, showcasing how collaboration and innovation are driving low-carbon construction forward.

This visit was a fantastic opportunity to highlight:
🌱 Sustainable retrofit in action
🎓 Training and upskilling for the future workforce
🏗️ Practical approaches to decarbonising construction delivery

Projects like this demonstrate how existing buildings can be transformed to meet modern standards while reducing environmental impact.
