What a month and it’s only half way through!! Spent a few days replenishing the jellies and jams and it all looks great again! Strawberry preserves and plum jelly were must haves, but made a few new ones this time! Fig preserves and Apple C***r Jelly. I have to say, both were so good, but that Apple C***r jelly was the win this time! I’ll post the recipe tomorrow! 💕

A full two days of canning and then you think …. what’s for dinner?? I opened up a quart of home canned pinto beans, added some sausage links and made a pan of cornbread. This bowl might even get a little homemade chow chow or pepper sauce from the garden. All in all it’s so nice after a long day of work to be able to prepare something not only quick, but healthy!!

Did you know that when eggs are stored rounded end down, the air pocket (that's naturally in every egg) touches the yolk and this leads to quicker spoilage?

Egg whites naturally have bacteria-killing enzymes; yolks do not. Air and bacteria enter eggs through their rounded end, where the air pocket is located. By storing eggs pointy end down, you ensure the air pocket doesn't touch the yolk. The result is eggs that stay fresher longer.

Storing unwashed eggs pointy end down in the refrigerator, I regularly keep eggs for 7 months or longer.

Normally this time of year because of the Texas heat I’m pulling EVERYTHING! Well my sweet husband keeps checking on the garden and finding nuggets of goodness!! I think he’s a keeper!
