The devices in this breezeway are critical life-safety components, specifically a horn-strobe (top) and a manual pull station (bottom). In an open environment like this, their installation is governed by strict codes to ensure they remain functional despite exposure to the elements.

One of these detectors don’t belong here.

Do you have an older smoke detector similar to this dingy yellow one one?
While detectors do last a long time , they should be replaced when you see obvious signs of deterioration.
Because not only is it deteriorating on the outside, but the components on the inside are deteriorating as well.
Most detectors have a lifespan of 10 years. This one is well past the 10 year mark. Perhaps it was made in the 80s.

If you need smoke detector replacement give us a call

Do you have a safe electrical panel box?

I recently Removed a Zinsco electrical panel to find:
Charred bus bars
Deteriorated breakers (Mostly 30 amp and 60 amp)
Customer said that they heard sizzling sound at the electrical panel.
Definitely a fire hazard!
Replacement performed

If you have one of these please consider replacing your electrical panel by a licensed electrical contractor.

Unsafe Electrical Panels
As listed on the web
* Zinsco (GTE-Sylvania)
* Federal Pacific Electric (FPE)

Please consider these common items for your commercial fire alarm and electrical:
1. Never block your manual pull station; usually located at the exits, the fire marshal will not be pleased
2. Always have a certified (low voltage licensed) technician to perform an Annual Fire Alarm inspection on your Fire Alarm system; this is required per NFPA; message me if you have questions
3. Perform a monthly test on your exit lights; this can be done by the owner, the goal is to make sure your emergency backup light is working.
4. If your business has remodeled you will need an updated NFPA fire alarm inspection with included new points list for you Fire Alarm system
5. Drop cords are ok for temporary use, however, if there is a need for an outlet in a location that constantly gets a drop cord , then have a certified electrician install a permanent outlet as this is the safest and more reliable solution.
