Captured Lightning - http:capturedlightning.com This page showcases our beautiful Captured Lightning sculptures.

These are acrylic specimens that were charged to millions of volts by a particle accelerator, then manually discharged to create a permanent fossilized fractal-like "lightning bolt" inside. Providers of the world's most beautiful Captured Lightning sculptures (Lichtenberg Figures), electromagnetically shrunken coins, and scarce physics, scientific, and engineering books

Just completed another Lichtenberg run on Monday, November 18th in Lebanon, OH. We got excellent results. We also had a couple of friends and high-voltage enthusiasts) from the Cincinnati area (Bill Pollack and Mike Murphy) visit and help out during the run. It was a small production run but a very productive one.

Our 11/30 Lichtenberg run was a success. Because of a small vacuum leak, the electron accelerator was limited to a maximum of 4 MeV instead of the normal 5 MeV, but we were able to work around this limitation. We had folks from Iowa, Illinois, Maryland, Ohio, and New Jersey at the run. In addition, a number of electrical engineering students (Dr. Roberto Uribe's class from Kent State University) also visited us as part of an EE lab. The students discharged their own 3" x 3" specimens and were given them as souvenirs of their visit. We also irradiated seven acrylic guitar bodies - they turned out GREAT!

Our next Lichtenberg production run will be November 16th, with backup dates of 11/30 or 12/7. So much to do, and so little time... :^)

We're doing LOTS of work getting ready for the next Lichtenberg Run on March 23rd. We're going to have 13 folks helping us. coming from 3 states. It's an all-day trip for most folks. Because of the unseasonably mild weather, we're going to start irradiating ar 7:00 AM to get another 1.5 hours of cooler temperatures. Our Captured Lightning sculptures actually prefer being created in cold weather... :^).
