Tip of the Week:

LIGHTS THAT FLICKER OR THAT TRIP THE CIRCUIT BREAKER

Cause: Loose wiring splice or a light fixture that's worn out and needs to be replaced.

Solution: Cut power to the fixture and investigate the supply wiring and the fixture itself. Replace wire connectors with new professional-grade types. Replace the fixture if suspect.

With the holidays approaching quickly, we will start off with some extention cord safety. Keep your eyes out each week for more helpful tips so your family can celebrate safely and without worry.

Extension cord safety:

1. Don't use extension cords as a substitute for repairing building wiring.
2. Inspect extension cords for broken connectors, damaged insulation and missing hardware before each use.
3. Do not run extension cords through walls, over beams, around corners or through doorways.
4. Only use extension cords approved for the environment and loads expected.
5. Equip extension cords with ground fault interruption (GFI) devices.
6. Dont use coiled extension cords.
7. Discard damaged extension cords; don't try to repair them.
8. Use only surge protected power strips. 9. Inspect the power strips regularly for damage or signs of overloading.
