A simple tip to help figure how many plants you need for an area.
📏 Measure your garden bed area
📝 Grab some graph paper and plot out the bed dimensions. If it’s a smaller area, 1 square = 1ft, larger areas you can double up 1 square = 2ft and so on.
✍️ Keeping mature plant sizes in mind you can layout the garden using dots, circles, squares, symbols or even different colors.
👩🌾 Count the shapes.

Some other pro tips 👇
- Circular/Oval shaped beds, you can measure the diameter from top to bottom and left to right.
- Free flowing beds? You can break them down into simpler shapes in order to plot. Think squares and rectangles!
- Using smaller herbaceous plants? Keep it simple and go with 1x1ft spacing for a full look.
And most of all remember, you got this! 🕺
