This client was proactive, knowing it had been a while since their HVAC system received attention. They were right!

We were happy to perform our normal suite of inspections. Our final Refrigeration Performance Inspection showed the system is now working as designed! No repairs needed today, and we are sure this will decrease energy consumed by their HVAC system.

It’s been a busy summer here at Honest HVAC, and we realize it’s been a little while since we’ve checked in!

First, we’d like to officially welcome Blake to the Honest HVAC team. He joined us at the beginning of the summer and has been doing an outstanding job taking care of our customers. Blake brings professionalism, respect, and a genuine desire to solve our customers’ comfort problems the right way. He takes pride in thorough diagnostics, quality workmanship, and treating every home and business as if it were his own. We’re grateful to have him on the team!

🏠 Project Spotlight: Bringing Comfort to Every Floor

We recently had the opportunity to be part of a home remodel project that presented a unique challenge.

The home originally had a heat-only system and the second story was not receiving the airflow needed to stay comfortable year-round. As part of the renovation, we redesigned portions of the duct system to add both supply and return air to the upper level, helping improve airflow and temperature balance throughout the home.

To complete the project, we also installed a new air conditioning system, giving the homeowners reliable cooling for the first time and creating a much more comfortable living space.

Ice forming on your AC unit? Here’s what it means—and what you should do right away!

If you notice ice building up on your outdoor unit or on the refrigerant lines, it’s a sign your system isn’t operating correctly. Running it in this condition can lead to bigger (and more expensive) damage if you keep it going.

Here’s what to do immediately:

1. Turn your AC OFF
Stop the cooling cycle right away. Continuing to run it can cause the ice to build up even more and strain the system.
2. Switch your thermostat to “Fan Only”
This helps circulate air and speeds up the thawing process without cooling.
3. Check your air filter
A clogged or dirty filter is one of the most common causes. Restricted airflow can cause coils to freeze.
4. Let the system fully thaw
This can take several hours. Avoid chipping away at the ice—you could damage components.
5. Check for airflow issues
Blocked vents, closed registers, or dirty coils can all contribute to freezing.

When to call a professional:

If the ice comes back after thawing, or if your system is struggling to cool, it could point to:

Low refrigerant
Dirty evaporator coil
Blower motor issues
Airflow restrictions inside the system

That’s when it’s time to bring in a technician to prevent further damage!

Cleaning systems like these is therapy for us! 😆 This particular coil didn’t look too dirty at first glance but, after looking closer, I could tell it had been awhile since it was properly cleaned.
