Living Waters Aquatic Management

Living Waters Aquatic Management Services for Fish Tanks, Water Gardens, Fishing & Farm Ponds in Wichita and Kansas. Locally established & operated since 2007.

We are families who serve businesses, communities and families. Similar to a living tree, Living Waters Aquatic Management has a philosophy of structure & growth. We call this integrated philosophy the 3 disciplines. Our 3 disciplines are: Biological, Chemical & Mechanical maintenance. Our mission is to provide the best service to our clients and implement sustainable environmental practices. Our

specialty is maintenance, cleaning and installs. We are leaders in water quality field-analysis. For neighborhood ponds & lakes, we are certified w**d control applicators. But chemical maintenance with algaecides and herbicides is just one of our disciplines. Our integrated disciplines include the mechanical aspects of your pond. We reduce chemical costs with aeration systems and erosion control management. Not only do we install subsurface aeration, but we also repair fountains, waterfall pumps and plumbing. Thirdly, our aquatic maintenance technicians are well-trained in aquatic biology. We are skilled at native and invasive plant identification, fish husbandry and more. This interdisciplinary work is known as Integrated Management. Owner/operator Gerard Wellemeyer began with over 10-years experience in aquaculture. His vision for the company was simple: a focus on aquatic maintenance. The year of the startup was complicated by the subprime mortgage crisis. Wellemeyer navigated the company to success with relationship marketing and by delivering consistent results. We established in 2011 as a corporation in the State of Kansas. And with providence, humble work has led us to dynamic skill development. We manage hundreds of fishing ponds, stormwater retention basins and aquatic systems, including watergardens, freshwater and saltwater fishtank and filter systems complete with koi, tropical fish, coral reefs, live aquatic plants, or goldfish. If we cannot help, we will refer you to someone who can. The staff at Living Waters express a genuine obligation to your projects and your peace of mind. Call us today and let’s create a lasting partnership to enhance your home or business and pamper your aquatic friends.

While lesser-known amongst beginner fiahkeepers, Cichlids - African Cichlids in particular- are the more popular choice amongst hobbyists. Here, Victorian cichlids are perhaps the most colorful, albeit cryptic, of all the Africans.

A fascinating and informative new website, “Lake Victoria Basin Cichlids” documents the extraordinary endemic cichlid fauna of Lake Victoria — one of the world's most remarkable evolutionary radiations. Developed as an independent educational resource for aquarists, researchers, and conservationists dedicated to the endemic cichlid species flock of Lake Victoria.

Visit here - https://victoriabasincichlids.org/

Created by Peter George, an independent hobbyist/researcher with two decades of focused study on Victoria Basin cichlids and a longer background in tropical fish biology, this is an excellent resource:

“My goal with the website is simple: to cover the Victorian haplochromines completely, honestly, and from the perspective of the people who actually keep them alive. Sometimes that means taking an indirect path, commenting on the science we have had to navigate, the institutions that shape it, and the gaps hobbyists have been forced to fill. But the heart of the project is the fish themselves and the community that protects them. I hope the site becomes a resource, a record, and a reminder of what can be accomplished when a few determined people refuse to let these extraordinary animals disappear.” - Peter George.

The hidden dangers of AI no one is talking about:
With artificial intelligence rampant in our technology, we are facing a new threat: it’s giving intel to the other side. If our food sources can now get full disclosure on secrets hidden from them for time immemorial, we will be facing shortages the likes our world has never seen. Game will now have our hunting methods spelled out for them with a click of a button. The implications are enormous.

The Chadsworth pond reminds us all too well what can happen when the smallest thing gets off balance; whether that be low oxygen levels, a slightly off pH, or an algae breakout. Make sure to give us a call today if you have any concerns about your own pond!

Have you ever been curious on the what it takes to rejuvenate a pond?

• Algaecides/chemicals — emergency response. Necessary sometimes, but killing a bloom fast drops oxygen further as it decomposes, which is often what actually finishes off the fish.
• Fountains — surface aeration and aesthetics. Real oxygen transfer, but mostly in the top layer. Doesn’t destratify a deeper pond.
• Diffused aeration — bottom-up circulation, full water column turnover, prevents the stratification and turnover events that cause die-offs. This is the permanent fix.

For any and all pond services in South-Central Kansas, make sure to contact the team at Living Waters!

Chadsworth pond shows all too well what can happen without proper aeration. The culprit here was a deluge of stagnant rainwater pumped into the pond which quickly receded; this caused the oxygen level to drop off.

Is your pond quietly turning into a hazard?

Retention ponds act like catch basins, collecting road runoff, yard chemicals, debris, and sludge that sink into the oxygen-starved depths. Left alone, that muck breeds blue-green algae, coliform bacteria, and mosquitos… and can trigger a summer “turnover” that wipes out your fish overnight.

There’s a better way. Diffused aeration is the #1 method recommended by the EPA and Kansas Dept. of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism for improving pond health. A curtain of millions of tiny bubbles lifts the muck, scrubs the water with oxygen, and sets the whole pond into a cleansing vortex. Over time, your pond literally exhales its own sludge, becoming self-cleaning.
